It is a reflection on any parents for their children

If mud baths make people beautiful what does mud
slinging do for politicians?
The cry of the ice man on the streets is getting
weak, but the coal man is yelling lustily.

Barrow county, our live, enterprising neighbor on
the north, is considerably in the limelight nowadays
and. ns the old saying goes. “Wherever there is so
much smoke there must lie some fire.’ Barrow is not
unlike other counties in Georgia and will never be
immune from the criticism that other counties have
been receiving ever since they sprang into existence.
It gives us pleasure to say that the people of Barrow
who favor law and order, who believe in education,
Christianity and all the ennobling virtues are in th“
majority by far and that for what the outlaws say
ami do they are not responsible. Hundreds of them
in and around Winder, the county seat, will not hesi
tate a moment to use every means within the law to
suppress crime and see that criminals are brought to
justice, notwithstanding the magnificent charge of
Judge Fortson to the grand jury.—Walton News.

Judge Walter F. George.
One of the cleanest, ablest and safest men in Geor
gia today is Judge Walter F. George, of Vienna. In
all his cam*r he lias conducted himself not as a pol
itician, but as a statesman and a patriot. He is splen
did senatorial timber, and the people of the state
would make no mistake in putting him in the place
made vacant by the death of the lamented Thomas
E. Watson. His character is above reproach and
Ids ability second to none in our state. His record
as judge on the supreme bench and in lesser positions
of trust is unassailable, and above all, he is a Chris
tian gentleman. He would honor Georgia in the
United States senate.

A Visit to South Georgia
Ye editor enjoyed a trip to Vhlalia and Toombs
county, down in Soutli Georgia, last week. We found
that section in much better shape than it has been
in since the depression hit it. While the boll weevil
was rather destructive this year, yet the people have
plenty of food crops and they have made no new debts.
They are making about half a crop of cotton and the
good price that they are receiving for this crop is
putting them in fairly good shape. And what is bet
ter gtlll, the people hfcve stopped grumbling, gone to
work in dead earnest and mean to pull out of the
ditch . They are arranging for another year with a
hopeful spirit and we believe they will win out.

Your Job.
BLESSED is the man that has a job and "ho lo\s
it. Everybody ought to have a job. And if you
love your job, you will make a success of it. If >'<>
do riot love your jot* get one that you do love. If
you cannot get the job you want right now stick to
the one you have and do your best at it until you
can get what you want. You will never get what
you want by laying down on your present job. What
tliis world needs today are men and women who love
their jobs and earn every dollar they receive in
wages Your success depends upon your employer’s
success and it’s up to you to help make his business
„ success. You will profit by it. Magnify your job;
make a big thing out of it; do it better than anybody
else. You will soon have a bigger job. Instead of
being a job hunter, jobs will hunt you. This spirit
will bring you success in life.

A certain well known Georgia politician who had
lost a father and mother, two wives, and several chil
dren. telegraphed Mrs. Watson that in all his ex
perience. no death that had ever occurred, so touched
and moved ids heart. Now, by gum, what do ye
think of that? Yes, lie's a politician, all right.—

Gus Skelton went into the Hartwell Bank the other

interest couldn’t be killed. Thornton told him the
interest had already eaten up his notes.— Hartwell
