/THURSDAY, NOVESEEB lfl, 1922. In The By;-Gone Days. In a former article I have told you there was a Thomas Camp who lived in Virginia. This man was the father of boys, John, Marshal and Thom as. The mother of these boys was a Mrs. Marshall before she wed Thomas Camp. This third son. Thomas, was horn in 1717. The name of his first wife is not found. The children born to them are Edmund, born in 1739; Jo seph born in 1741; John born in 1743, Nathaniel bom in 1745, Thomas bom in 1747, Starling born in 1749. These were brothers and sisters of a family of 21 boys and 3 girls. As I wish to study the John Camp line I will not enumerate the others. This John Camp was born in Hali fax county, Virginia, and wed Mary Tarpely in 1768. He moved to Green ville District, S. C., and from there to his son’s, Abner, in Jackson county now Barrow where he died. Just when we know' not He sickened and died and liis son, Aimer, buried him two and a half miles southeast of what is now Winder. This old graveyard is near the Hog Mountain road on a land line between Smith and Thomas. children bom to John and Mary Comp are Abner, bom in 1770; and wed Elizabeth Ragsdale in Virginia 1798; Starling, born and wed Anna Helm; William, John, Kezziah, who wed Ben Arnold ; Sarah who wed Thom as Grayson; Winnefred who wed Thom as Kinan; Annie Naomi who wed John Hill. In the Hill genealogy I have given you Annie’s history. Tradition says this .Tohir Camp was one and the same who was 2nd lieutenant of the 3rd Vir ginia 1776, and Captain of the Ist Va. State Kgt. January 1777 to 1778. Abner Camp, tlie oldest son of John Camp, married Elizabeth Ragsdale and to them were born seven children, Ed mond who wed May Reynolds: Rus sell wiio wed Shepherd; Ar thur who wed Miss Martin and Max well; Hiram who wed Penniah Rey nolds; Satira who wed Isaac Tread well; Mary who wed Manning; Martjia who wed Rev. ,T. W. B. Allen. Now, I shall drop back and pick up the Reynolds line to humor Edmond Camp and his wife. About 1800, one Gallant Reynolds lived on the present court house site. He built the first cabin on here some time prior to 1800 this cabin here some name of Jug Tavern. Gallant Rey nolds married Jemima Culp in 1702. Their children are Thomas, Gallant, -who wed Miss Martin; Mary born in 1708 who wed Edmond Camp; James, George born 1805 who wed Elisabeth Chapman; Viney who wed a Mr. Brown, Sarah who wed Moses Chapman; Pen- Inah bom 1813 who wed Hiram Camp. The Culp -family lived near old Antioch Baptist church. Their names appear ■on the church roll in 1840. This gallant Reynolds died in 1820 and was buried in our present court house yard southeast of the north door. In 1825 the administrator wound up the estate for Jemima Reynolds and chil dren and turned over the Jug Tavern Property to Richard Hill. The children of Edmond and Mary Camp are Matilda who wed a Mr. Howell; Abner who wed a Miss Holland, Betsey, who wed a Mr. Gilbert; George who weda Miss Phillips; Edmond who wed a Miss Houston. The children of George and Elizabeth Chapman are Adline, Pink who wed *Nancy McCormick; Wm. M. who wed Elizabeth Camp; Emily who wed Frank McCormick; Caroline who wed Dixon Hester; Mollie and Sarah who both wed Reuben McGee; Eliza who wed ,1. A. Hicks; James T. who wed Jennie Mills, Jennie who wed H. K. Miles. The children of Peninah and Hiram Camp are Mary who wed a Dodd and josiah Couch; Abner N. who wed Jane Teasley; John who wed John McClure; Walker G. who wed Sarah Maxwell; Elizabeth who wed Wm. M. Reynolds; H. W. who wed Fanny Phillips; San ford A.; George A. who wed Mattie Cohch; Arthur P. who wed Mlttie Dun lap. Now the second son of Abner Camp is Russell who wed Miss Shepherd, •they had only one daughter, Mealey Ann. The third son, Arthur, wed a Miss Martin and their children are E. J.; Robert; Nancy and others. The 4th I have given was Hiram Camp. The sth a daughter. Satora who wed Branham and Jerusha. The sixth child of Abner and Mary Camp is Mary who wed a Manning. Their children are Angie Mat, Simon. Aman da, Mollie, William and Cora. The seventh is Martha who wed J. W. B. Allen. Their children are Alex, Robert, Abner. Janies, Susan, Richard, John W., George W., Julia, A. N.; and Bev erly P. Now this man, J. IV. B. Allen was a preacher of note and from him the peo ple of Bethlehem received the land on which stands Bethlehem Camp Ground. Respt., C. M. THOMPSON. f>. This is the season of the year when the prudent and careful housewife re plenishes her supply of Chamberlain’s Cough Remedy. It is almost certain to be needed before the winter is over and results are much more prompt and satisfactory when it is kept at hand and given as soon as the first indica tion of a cold appears and before it has become settled In the system. There is no danger In giving it to children as it contains no opium or other harm ful drug. advt.
