ville were the week-end guests of their
parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Arnold.
Mrs. C. C. Robertson spent Thurs
day in Athens with her sister. Mrs. W.
11. Cooper.
Mrs. E. M. Smith of Athens spent
Wednesday night with Mr. and Mis. W.
E. McDonald.
Mr. and Mrs. .T. W. Williams and .T.
W. Junior, were the week-end guests
of friends in Colbert.
Mrs. C. E. Nickelson and Mrs. Fan
nie Steed spent Tuesday in Winder as
the guests of Mrs. Will Autry and Mrs.
E. Hewitt.
Mrs. Emma Treadwell is spending
sometime in Atlanta with her daughter,
Mrs. Eustace Sykes, who is convales
cing from a serious operation.
Dr. and Mrs. T. L. Holcomb and Tom
Junior, left last week on a motor trip
through South and North Carolina and
into Virginia. They will lie gone several
days.
The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. R.
C. Willingham are sympathizing with
them in the death of their little son,
on November 13th.
Death of An Old Darkey.
An old antebellum darkey of almost
100 years of age passed away last Wed
nesday. She was known in the com
munity as one of the best old negroes.
No one knew any harm in her, but she
was considered honest, truthful and in
every way good and faithful. Aunt Car
oline, ns every one called her, will be
missed in the community, as she was
I lie white folks friend; always ready
and willing to do for them. She never
tired of telling the calamities that be
fell the people in the times of the great
war between the North and South. She
