J. I. Burson Is convalescing after

Miss Pearl Lanier was the week-end
guest of her sister, Mrs. Clarence Rob

Dr. and Mrs. T. L. Holcomb were the
guests of Dr. and Mrs. S. A. Boland
part of la.st week at their home in

Mrs. J-. W. Williams and J. W. Jun
ior returned home last Saturday after
spending some time in Ilart county
with her parents.
Mrs. Georgia McDonald is spending
sometime in Elberton with her daugh
ter, Mrs. W. D. Bolton.
Mrs. Roy Osborn and' little son of
Mrs Hill is the guest of Mrs. J. W.
Cody this week.
Miss Avery Bedingfield was the din
ner guest of Miss Ina Hammond Sun
day.
Cbandos Hnynie left Saturday for
Manchester where he has accepted a
position as bookkeeper.
Mrs. T. L. Wall spent part of the
holidays with her mother, Mrs. Mollie
Haynie of Winde.r.
Mrs. .Tames Cook left Sunday to
make her future home in Atlanta
where her husband has a position with
the express company.
Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Gordon entertain
ed last Sunday in honor of their 38th
anniversary. Because of illness only
a few could he with them, his daugh
ter. Mrs, J. N. Booth of Athens, and
little grand son. Mrs. Pauline Booth
Green, of near Chattanooga and two
children. Quite a pleasant day was
spent with this couple. May they have
many more happy anniversaries.
Miss Louise House, spent the week
end in Winder with her parents.
The Parent-Teacher Association held
Its January meeting in the school aud
itorium on Friday afternoon, January
sth.
The meeting was called to order hy
Mrs. P. L. Hutchins, vice president;
the president, Mrs. W. M. Stinchcomb,
was kept away on account of illness.
This was strictly a business meeting,
an election of officers took place as fol
’ lows:
Mrs. Thrasher, president.
Mrs. C. B. Chaml>ers, secretary.
1 Mrs. P. L. Hutchins, vice president.
Mrs. G. J. Thurmond, treasurer.
Mrs. J. C. Daniel, chairman of the
program committee.
Miss Rozelle Boss, pianist.
We hope with this efficient body of
workers to make this a mast remarka
ble year.
Plans for the new year were discuss
ed and various committees were ap
pointed to take up the work of equipp
ing the library.
At; the conclusion of the business
meeting Mesdames Cody, Wall and Mal
comb acted as hostesses.
Hereafter the meetings will he held
first Friday in each month.
We hope to have a good attendance
in February, as a very interesting pro
t gram will be rendered.

In memory of our loving aunt, and
sister, Miss Effie Page, who died De
cember the 15th. 1922. She was the
daughter of John L. and Elizabeth Page
both of whom passed to their eternal
home some time ago. She was 57 years
old at the time of her death. She
leaves two sisters and four brothers to
mourn her departure: Mrs. W. 8.

Page, of Lula, Oklft.; H. O. Page of
North Carolina.
She joined the Methodist church
about fourteen years ago and has been
a faithful member ever since. She had
been in bad health several years, but
was doing nicely until she was taken
with the flu and pneumonia.
The funeral services were conducted
by Rev. Turalin and Mr. Ed Haynie.
Burial was at the old Graham bury
ing ground. She was a kind, sweet
girl who will be missed by a host of
relutives and friends.
