Miss Pearlie Hammond attended a
recital at Lucy Cobb Friday evening

after which she spent the week-end with
her sister, Miss Lollie Mae Hammond
of Athens.
Mrs. L. M. Arnold and Mrs. H. W.
Grizzle entertained the sewing club on
last Thursday afternoon at the home
of Mrs. Grizzle. Quite n little hunch
present and all enjoyed so much. After
a social hour pleasantly spent a deli
cious salad and sweet course was ser
ved by the hostesses.
A pleasant home-coming was enjoy
ed by tiie family of Mr. and Mrs. W. j. .
Ross Sunday. Mrs. Ross and her two '
daughters, Mrs. Price Harper and Rose
Ross planned a dinner that was most
pleasing to the appetite. It being Mr.
U<kk' birthday, the table was groaning
under the* viands so deftly arranged.

R. A. Hutcheson happened to a dan
gerous and like to have been a serious
accident Sunday morning. He lives out
a little ways from town and was on his
way to Sunday school. Mr. Soule of
Athens picked him up out at the edge
of town, the ear was overturned in a
ditch, completely demolishing the car,
while the occupants were fastened in
the car. Mr. Soule was immediately
carried to the hospital in Athens. Mr.
Hutcheson was not seriously injured,
but his face was badly scarred.
Mrs. W. It. McDonald is spending
■this week in Elberton with her daugh
ter, Mrs. W. D. Bolton.
An interesting and enjoyable event
of the past week was a beautiful party
given in the home of Mrs. 1,. M. Ar
nold on Friday evening in compliment
to “The Gleaners,” Mrs. P. 1,. Hutch
ins’ class of the Methodist church.
The spacious rooms were effectively
decorated with spring flowers and Val
entine suggestions.
Progressive Rook was played. Messrs
Rozzie Arnold and Her- Hammond were
the prize winners.
Miss Roselle Ross rendered many
beautiful piano selections during the
evening.
Little Elizabeth Stinchcomb and Ma
ry Arnold were dressed as twin cu
pids and served a very delicious salad
course.
The Gleaners Glass consists of Miss

Willingham Monday afternoon.
