BEAUTIFUL RECEPTION GIVEN
BY MR. AND MRS. FORTSON.
One of the lovliest events on the so
cial calendar was the reception last
Tuesday evening given hy Mr. and
Mrs. L. A. Fortson at their home on
Woodlawn Avenue, in honor of Mr. and
Mrs. J. P. Campbell of Rock Hill, S. C.,
whose marriage was an interesting
event of last wc*?k.
This attractive home was unusually
pretty on this occasion with a most ar
tistic arrangement of ferns and ivy.
Large French baskets, filled with pink
roses and Easter lillies were placed on
pddestals and tables, the lights were
shaded in pink and crystal candle
sticks holding pink burning tapers were
placed on mantels and cabinets, cast
ing a soft glow over the entire scene.
Mrs. H. T. Flanigan and Mrs. W. O.
Perry received thei guests at the front
door and they were then ushered into
the rooms where punch was served by
Mrs. C. O. Maddox and Mrs. Howard
Rogers. Then they wdre shown into
the dining-room, the same lovely decora
tions were used in this room, the din
ing table was overlaid with a beautiful
madeira cloth and in the centdr was a
large silver basket tilled with lillies and
pink roses, the color scheme of pink
and white was carried out in the ices
and mints. Mrs. Roy Jackson and
Mrs. Hery Pledger presided at the ta
ble, others assisting were Mrs. R. L.
Eavenson, Mrs. Guy Kilgore, Mrs. Car
penter and Mrs. W. M. Holsenbeck.
The Victrola was in charge of Misses
Mabel Jackson and Josephine House.
A large number of friends enjoyed
this delightful occasion.
BIRTHDAY PARTY.
A number of little friends invited to
the home of J. B. Cooper, Jr., on Fri
day afternoon, March 30, to celebrate
his ninth birthday. As the guests ar
rived the host was presented many
kinds of gifts. Many interesting and
childish games were enjoyed. Late in
the afternoon they enjoyed an Easter
egg hunt. Then returned to the house
where delightful refreshments were
served.

MRS. CARPENTER ENTERTAINS
AT UNIQUE PARTY.

tess at an unique “April Fool Party.”
Each guest was asked to cornel mask
ed so as to “fool” the other guests, and
gome were indeed clever, especially the
cologne peddler from Piney Forks. Af
ter the guests had unmasked several
delightful and amusing contests were
thoroughly enjoyed, in which the idea
of Easter and “April Fool” was carried
out in many delightful suggestive ways.
The rooms where the guests assem
bled were very attractive with baskets
and bowls of Easter lillies and other
early spring flowers. Late in the af
ternoon a most delicious salad course
was served with punch. Those invited
