Mr. IL N. Rainey has returned
from a pleasant trip to Mineral
Wells, Tex. While in the Lone
Star State Nick took occasion to
boost Georgia and Winder, advis
ing the young man to come south.
News reaches Winder that Miss
Starr Blasingame, who is attending
Brenau, and has l>een confined to
her bed with smallpox for a week,
is getting along nicely. This will
be good news to her many friends
here.
Mr. John Kigore left this morn
ing for Baltimore. Philadelphia and
New York. .John Is the youngest
buyer in the city, but is one of the
best, and the patrons of Kilgore &
Kelly may be assured he will guard
their interest while making pur
chases for the spring season.

We arc glad to communicate to
the public this week 'through the
columns of this splendid paper,
something of more importance than
the news concerning our friends and
neighbors.
For sometime our town lias felt
the need of of a good school and
since the new year began, stronous
efforts have been made to establish
one. Rev. R. J. Huff has been
untiring in his efforts and was so
fortunate last week as to secure the
services of Mrs. Albert Murphy, of
Atlanta, as principal of our school.
Mrs MurpTip is a splendid teacher
having had several years'experience
in the schools of Tennessee and for
the past twelve months has taught
in South Georgia. Mrs Murphy is
also a fine teacher of expression
As the school required two teachers,
Judge Russell secured the services
of M iss Lula Fowler, of Atlanta.
Miss Fowler tahght for Judge Rus
sell last year and proved herself
in every way a splendid lady and
most excellent teacher.
School opened Monday morning
in the church building with a fair
attendance. A building across the
street from the church will be used
for the primary department.
We are proud of this beginning
toward a school, and hope bv fall
to have our building, which is al
ready Iwgun, completed in every
way for an up-to-date school.
Services at the Baptist church
were well attended Sunday, Rev.
S. W. Arnold filled his regular
appointment and delivered a good
sermon to Li is congregation.
Miss Robbie Blasingame, of Win
der, visited Miss Ina and Marguerite
Russell Saturday.
Misses Vallie Mae Woodruff,
Susie and Sallie Wilson, Bertha
Dewlierty and Ruth Pledger spent
Friday afternoon with Misses May
hell and Mary Alice Smith.
The friends of Mrs. W. IT. Bur
son will be glad to know that she
is at home again, after a short visit
to her nephew in Oconee county.
Mrs. J. IT. Mosemann expects to
go to Athens this week to visit her
mother, Mrs. Morris.
Rev N. E. Mcßrayer made a
business trip to Gainesville Monday.
Mr. .Joe Austin has been confined
to his home by a severe attack of
rheumatism.
The children of Mr. and Mrs.
Henry Mealor have been very sick
this week.
