A Daily Thought.
Work is a guardian angel.
Work turns the wilderness in:',
a garden. Work does sometimes
what even love cannot do; roots
a man firmly in his place in the
world and gives him the blessed
sensation, “this plot of ground
in tile wide immensity of earth
was meant for me to grow in.

enjoyable social events in our com
munity for many years was an old
tirre family reunion at the hon e of
M\ E B. Duster last Sunday, June
29th, celebrating the eightieth birth
day of Mrs. Irena Poster, who at
this old age was jolly, in good health
and said:
“I feel better than I have felt in
five years.”
From early in the forenoon her
children, grand-children, relatives
and a few near friends were rapid-
ly arriving till by 10 o’clock there
w re present about nil ety.
The forenoon was spent in lively,
interesting conversation and hearty
laughter. The oldest w< re review
ing their experiences during the
war and their young days; the mid
dle-aged were discussing the condi
tion of the crops, while the boys
and girls, no doubt, were talking
on a different subject.
But whatever the subject, it made
the occasion enjoyable, strength
ened the sacred ties of friendship
and kinship, and caused each one
to be thankful for and to appreci
ate more and more all true friends
and relatives, especially the de: r
old ones whom we love and whose
stay cannot be very much longer in
our midst.
At the noon hour the women
spread dinner on a table i repared
for the purpose out in the edge of a
beautiful, shady grove. My! We
never saw so much and so many
kinds of good things to cat. The
table was literally burdened. Ev
erybody took their own good time
eating, but each ate to the satisfac
tion of their own appetites, and 1
expect a few forgot the teachings of
physiology and ate more than just
enough to satisfy the appetite. Still
all seemed to feel fine and a jolly
social talk was carried on around
the table for some time after din
ner, after which a few good old
church songs were sung.
I am sure that Mrs. Foster was
made to feel that her children, rela
tives and friends have not forgot
ten the many kind acts and words
of cheer to them during her young
er years and that they are anxious
ever help, respect, and honor the
old ones. May God shower His
bb swings upon her and all df’-the
old ones in their last days and as
they are reaching the sun-setting of
their life may it indeed 'be golden
and full of happiness.
