t
Atlanta, Ga., Oct. 2!) Events
of tin* last week or two poi.nt
strongly toward a consummation
of hope that political factionalism
has been permanently buried in
Georgia and that tin* state will
face the domestic and national
problems of tin* next decade with
a united democracy.
The sentiment is apparently a]
most unanimous that Governor
Seaton should l be re-elec;tiob with
Put opposition and that Senator
Hoke Smith should be given the
continued and undivided support
of his constituents in the great
world be is helping accomplish
at Washington.
The most significant utterance
o nthe situation has c.ome.perahps
from U. S. Director of the Census
W. J l . Harris, who was in town
last week, wearing a smile as
broad as the map of Georgia. Mr.
Harris is happy because he as
chairman of the state democratic
executive committee had dreamed
of harmony ahd worked for har
mony; he is about to see the
dreams realized.
Senator Harris gives the ad
ministration of Governor Slaton
great credit for aiding in the
mit'gation of factional feeling,
lie believes that Governor Slaton,
has made himself the goveihior of
all the people of Georgia, anti it
is vital to the welfare of the state
for Governor Slaton to lie re-elect

his program is carried out.
Senator Harris expressed the
belief that Georgia was more

Senator Smith will and should he

Another big fact which points
tojward party harmony is that
while Senator Smith was in At

always been for him, but from
leaders of former factions which
ilit the old days were opposed to
him. '
