BEFORE AND AFTER.
“Men Good and True” Become
‘ 1 Frightened Rabbits ’'l
■ •-
Atlanta, Ga., Oct., 29th.—Even
such a solemn and dreadful thing
as the Frank murder trial is not
always devoid of a certain grim
humor, and an evefa-t occurred
during the argument of motion
for new trial which brought a,n
unwilling smile even to the ten
sest lips of those concerned.
hn the original trial Attorneys
Rube Arnold and. Luther Rosser,
than whom there are none shrewd
er, in addressing the jury over
and over again as “men good and
true,” as “representative and
h*i|rhminded citizens devoid of
prejudice,” as “peers” as the
“bulwark of the law” and so on,
all very flattering to the dignity
of the jury. That was when the
defense hoped the jury would jus
tify these phrases by acquitting
their client. But Frank! was con
victed and in the motion for the
new trial Arnold and lesser
again had occasion to refer to
the jury. This tfme the phrases,
equelly eloquent, took a different
beat. “Twelve scared rabbits hu<
.died together, ’ and “a jury
frightened into their verdict by
public temper," and “men sway
ed by racial prejudice,” were
some of the choicest ones.

ache, pains in my limbs,
and my head ached nearly j
all the time. Our family
doctor treated me, but
only gave me temporary
relief. I was certainly in
bad health. My school

without ceremony' or ostentation.
Tlie mighty power of the waters
that converge at Tallulah Falls

of trade in Atlanta. )
From the mountains down tow
ard the plain hundreds of thou
sands of hors'e-power have been
brought by the giant tower lfhes,
and the entire local electric, sys
tem, which supplies energy for
streetcars, office buildings, manu
facturing plants, street lighting
and store residence lighting, is
whirring and whirling and glow
ing today with a power that only
a few years ago was rushing wild
over the rocks and torrential in
clines of the Blue Ridge. It is a
modern miracle ,more wonderful
iu its way than any mythological
feat of old.
There is now at Tallulah a sky
blue lake, 2 miles long and near
ly half a mile wide, with depth of
from 100 to 200 feet. This body
of water occupies what was for
merly a part of the eliasm above

have visited the spot recently
jsay that instead of ruining the
j sc.en.ic beauty, tin* place is mol e
! gorgeous iu scenic effects than
