The Limit of Littleness.

as being the survival of the fit

And, as for Winder, all o her de

started in this Lection to be known as the North Georgia
Trust Company, with Winder as the headquarters.
The public will be invited to take stock, and we are
informed that there will be no commissions paid for the sale
of stock, and that the eapital paid in will be unimpaired.
The capital stock will be one hundred thousand dol
lars, all paid in, with privilege of increasing same from time
to time to the sum of two hundred and fifty thousand dol
lars.
There can be no place in Georgia that needs an insti
tution of this kind more than Winder, and we are fold by
those who are interested in starting the company, that tuere
will be no conflict between the trust company and the banks,
as the trust company will not handle deposits subject to
check, and for that reason it is hoped to get all of the banks
in the neighboring towns interested to take stock, as the
trust company will take a class of business that is undesira
ble from a commercial bank’s standpoint.
This whole section stands in need of just such a bank
ing corpoiaticn as this to fester legitimate enterprises of merit
to handle estates, mortgage loans, stocks and bonds and act
in all capacities of a regular trust company.
Those who compose the organization committee are
Dr. W. L. DeLaperriere, dentist; T. A. Maynard, president
of the Winder Banking Company; \V. K. Toole, president of
the First National Bank; J. T. Strange, president of the J.
T. Strange Company; R. L. Rogers, cotton factor and ware
houseman; W. C. Horton, president of the Bell Overall Com
pany, John M. Williams, cotton factor; Lewis (J. Russeil, at
torney at law; A. A. Camp, cotton factor and warehouseman
G. W. Woodruff, President Woodruff Hardware & Mfg. Cos.
These men, together with the large number of influential
business men that will be associated with them, bespeaks
success for the Trust Company from the very start.
We hope that those who have money to invest will see
some member of the organization committee at once as we
understand th it the subscription books to the capital stock
are now open.

A Warning to Uplifters
It may be that the experts Avho
have required the science of agri
culture in the universities ere up
lifting tin* farmers a little too rap
idly, or are demanding prompt re
sults of improved methods without
regard for the practical difficulties
involved and the time required for
overcoming them. In the greater
part, of this country only one crop
a year is possible and an experi
ment must have at least two-trials
before it is really tested. Moreover,
a Avise process of “uplifting” in
cludes tractful consideration for the
feeling of the “uplifted.”
These reflections are suggested by
the news of the following resolution
adopted by the National Grange in
session at Manchester, N. H. “That
the country seems to be going crazy
over conferences, junkets and up
liftings that are supposed to be for
the good of the farmer. Whatever
is accomplished mnst be for the
work of the rural people themselves
and not that of a crowd of “up
lifters” ar.d experts from the city.
The “uplifters” of agriculture
undoubtedly have valuable sugges
tions to offer hut they need to be
less impatient and more tactful. —

Will You Be Ready in Time?
There’s one grim old master that nev

Time.—He moves us relentless about
the checker-board in the great game
of life, and pays no heed to the sands
running in his hour-glass-when events
come, WE MUST BE READY!
We’ve been playing the game with him in a busi

been able in a few instances to win only by a
small margin, HE NEVER HAS BEATEN US.
