Having recently read articles

the leavse are taken out; or hav

recipes which date from the fam
ous mincemeat and pumpkjn pies
of our great-grand mothers, to
the modern paper bag cookery,
recently introduced in America,
by Nicholas Sayer, of London,and
fireless cooker methods The
most valued are sixteen southern
recipes of Mrs. Woodrow Wil
son’s. Next are several pages
devoted to butchering items.
The home department contains ar
tides on ‘‘Home” and most ad
vice to wives and daughters.
Next here are many pages of
house-hold helps, short-cuts in wo
meids wrok, laundry 1 hints, etc.
Following this are “ Deaths and
Funerals,” embracing memorials,
tributes, and resolutions written
about people we knew, by people
we know and publ shed in local
papers. Short and suitable bits
of poetry are mixed with these.
Next comes tin* doctor and
home nursing section with treat
ment for diseases of children,
ti nts on health and hygiene, and
several articles on “Art and
Science of nursing” by a famous
tournc. There are also recipes of
appetizing foods for the sick.
