Milt „ Aaron Angored Because His
Young Son Eloped With the
Daughter of Ware.
Lexington. Ga., April 26.-After
Killing Sam Ware, one of his ten
ants, yesterday afternoon, Milton L.
v iron. a prominent planter near here
toO k his own life by shooting himself
through the heart. His body was
found this morning near his home by
a jir. Jennings, a neighbor.
Last week Aaron’s young son elop
ed with and married Ware’s 14-year
old daughter. Aaron charged that
Ware brought about the match and
became enraged when he learned of
the marriage.
It is the belief here that Aaron
went to see Ware and started a
quarrel with him. He pulled his pis
tol and shot Ware twice in the back
and one time in be shoulder. Hj
died almost instantly.
Returning to his home. Aaron told
his wife that he was leaving and ask
ed her to make a search for him,
saying his body would be found near
the home. She did not take him se
riously. but later heard the report
of his Ristol. A search was institut
ed, but his body was not found until
this morning.
Both men leave large families.
They were well known in this sec
tion, having resided here for many
years.
An Open Letter.
To Members of the Georgia Leg
islature, to the Members of the Press
and to you Sir, Greeting:
The Equal Suffrage Party of Geor
gia believing “that the right of cit
izens of this State to vote shall not
be denied or abridged on account of
sex,” desire to place before you our
plea for our own enfranchisement.
We feel that you cannot justly de
prive us of our voice in the admin
istration of the affairs of the Govern
ment, which we are taxed to main
tain, and to whose laws we are amen
able. In respectfully asking your
favorable consideration of this ques
tion, which we are not permitted to
decide for ourselves, we are not ask
ing for the adoption of any partisan
issue, nor for any untried experiment
In twelve states, women are en
joying the free use of the ballot and
from each of these states, through
her press, her Legislatures, her Gov
ernors, Senators, Clergymen, Judges,
Representatives and Chief Educators,
the statement is sent forth that only
good has accrued to the people and
State from the enfranchisement of
women.
'l'here have been anonymous writers
who have distributed misrepresenta
tions of the facts, but no two men or
women in all these States will as
sert over their own names and ad
dresses, that equal suffrage has pro
duced any bad results. The evils
predicted, have not come to pass, the
benefits claimed for it have been
secured or are in process of develop
ment.
Hvery person knows that the en
*;anehisement of the women of the
"outh will enormously increase white
supremacy. Quoting the U. S. Cen
s ls of 1914, we find the proportion of
'' !nfe women to negro women and of
v “'te women to the whole negro por
nlation as follows: There are 8,799,-
! white women in the South and 4,.
3:n * 565 negro women, less than half,
—d the white women of the South
number the entire negro populu-
T by 494,627. In Georgia there are
more Avhite women than ne
?ro women.
fawery person knows that the en
anchisement of women is
' • Everybody realizes that the

DOUBLE SERVICE
AUTOMOBILE TIRES
Guaranteed 7000 Miles Service. Ab
lutely Punctureproof.
Double Service Tires are double th
thickness of the best standard make
tires.
This 100 per cent greater wearing
surface naturally gives that much
more mileage service. The average of
12 plies of tough fabric and one inch
surface tread rubber makes these
tires absolutely punctureproof.
These tires excel all others for
use in the country over rough and
rugged roads as well as on hard pave
ments. They are as easy riding and
resilient as any other pneumatic tire
[ —the air space and pressure being
the same.
They are the mos-t economical and
“care free” tires made and are used
where tires must be depended on and
tire trouble cannot be tolerated.
Many double service style tires are
in use in the United States govern
ment and European War service.

One of the handsomest cars pur
chased by a Winderite this season
is the 8-cylinder Cadilac which Mr.
W. B. Mathews brought to the city
last week, for his daughter, Miss
Tavie Mathews. Mr. Mathews was
the owner of the first automobile
ever run on the streets of Winder,
but it would be a curiosity beside
this new car.

To the Business Men of
WINDER
When a good salesman goes out after business, he first puts on a clean collar
and gets his shoes shined. Then he looks like more business—and he’s made
a flying start toward getting it.
Likewise, a community can go after more business —and get it The “clean
collar and shiny shoes” of this town are the well-painted stores, the bright, cheery
homes, the fresh, clean-looking buildings. The part paint plays in building up
local pride cannot be put in figures—but its good effects are recorded on the local
merchants’ sales sheets. Buy good paint. We recommend and sen
