BAPTIST BARACA CLASS
ATTENDANCE INCREASING
Prom an Enrollment of Sixty Mem
ty:r, Fifty-Three Present on
/ Last Sunday.
Officers and members of the Bap
tist Sunday school have reason to he
proud pf one class—the Raraoa class.
Last Sunday there were 53 mem
bers present from an enrollment of
60, and new names are being added
each Sunday.
Miss Ruby Carithers, who has
been teaching the class since about
the first of this year, has been un
tiring in her efforts to interest each
and every member in the work and
1* is largely due to her experience
and ability as a teacher tiiat this
class can boast of so large per cent
of the members being present. Miss
Carithers, since taking charge of
this work has employed new meth
ods and original ideas in teaching the
class. Committees are appointed to
look out for the weaker members and
urge them to be present when possi
ble; to visit the sick members and
report to the class. Each member is
paired with another member and is
"his brother’s keeper.”
The members meet every Sunday
morning at ten o’clock and practice
singing for thirty minutes, under the
direction of Mr. Geo. N. Bagwell,
and the teacher, Miss Carithers.
Next Sunday night there will be a
special service for the Raracas, who
will be in charge of the music. Oth
er Baraca classes of the city will
be invited to this service.

Interesting Talks and Beautiful Mu
sical Program Enjoyed by Large
Cong-egation Sunday Afternoon.
The special service held by the
! Ministerial Association of the city at
the First Methodist church Sunday
afternoon in compliment to the local
militia was one of the most interest
ing and enjoyable special services
ever h'*ld in Winder.
The Winder Guards and the Hos
pital Corps, 3nd Squadron Cavalry,
i attend*-d in uniform, and listened
with interest and profit to inspiring
talks by Revs. Reeves, Faust and
Yarbrough, all of which were inspir
ing and helpful.
The music was exceptionally en
joyable, as a large number of gen
tlemen and ladies of the several
choirs and orchestras from the dif
ferent churches contributed to it.
The officers and men of the Na
tional Guard in this city feel very
grateful to the ministers, their con- 1
gregation and the citizens in general!
for the interest that is being man-1
ifested in their behalf.
Gave Husband Milk Bath.
Atlanta, April 38. Mrs. C. N. El
liott, who gave her husband a but
termilk shower bath because she did
not like his looks, and who is now
suing him for alimony, was following
a classic method of improving him,
though she probably didn’t stop fo
think when she dashed the pitcher
of milk in his face.
Cleopatra, the famous beauty of
the Nile was accustomed to bathe
daily in the milk of wild asses,
whole droves of which were kept to
provide it. Caesar Borgia, the fa
mous Italian cardinal of the middle
ages, was accustomed to bathe in
milk, on the advise of his physicians,
to ameliorate a fiery skjn disease
from which he suffered in the spring
of every year, and the medical prop
erties of milk as a bath have been
recognized by the ablest physicians
from the time of Galen to Woods
Hutchinson.
The husband, J. R. Elliott, how
ever, failed to take this calm and
scientific view of his wife’s act and
filed a suit for divorce, which has
now resulted in the cross bill for
alimony.

Henry Stillman Present When Big
Feature of California Exhibit
Was Taken.
The visit of the exhibition car* of
the North-of-Bay counties, California,
has provided Henry Stillman, of 87
Lewis street, with an opportunity to
substantiate a big fish story that he
and Ms family has often told. Mr.
Etillinan’s father, J. W. Stillman, vis
ited the exhibition last evening and
Identified the monster shark, which ia
one of the star attractions in the dis
play, as & big shark which his son
raw captured in Monterey Bay, Cali
fornia. This shark is 36 feet long,
Weighs 10,583 pounds and, according
to the number of vertebrae in its
•pine, was 460 years old when taken.
Mr. Ftillman was much interested
In the shark and told many of the vis
itors at the exhibition last evening
about his son being present when the
6bark was captured.
The management of the exhibition
train declare that Mr. Stillman is the
first person that they have found in
the East who was prosent at the
capture of this unusual si erimeu.—

HUSBAND RESCUED
DESPAIRING WIFE
After Four Years of Disconraging
Conditions, Mrs. Bullock Gave
Up in Despair. Husband
Came to Rescue.
Catron, Ky.—ln an interesting letter
from this place, Mrs. Bettie Bullock
writes as follows: “I suffered for four
years, with womanly troubles, and during
this time, 1 could only sit up for a little
while, and could not walk anywhere at
all. At times, 1 would have severe pains
in my left side.
The doctor was called in, and his treat
ment relieved me for a while, but 1 was
soon confined to my bed again. After
that, nothing seemed to do me any good.
1 had gotten so weak I could not stand,
and I gave up in despair.
At last, my husband got me a bottle of
Cardui, the woman’s tonic, and 1 com
menced taking it. From the very first
dose, i could tell it was helping me. I
can now walk two miles without its
tiring me, and am doing my work.”
If you are all run down from womanly
troubles, don’t give up in despair. Try
Cardui, the woman’s tonic. It Has helped
more than a million women, in its 50
years of wonderful success, and should
