for a few days with her daughter,
Mrs. Jud Horton.
Rev D. S. Patterson will preach
at Oak Grove school house Sunday
afternoon ut four o’clock.
Rev. Fuller preached to a very ap
preciative audience at the Baptist
church Sunday morning and evening.
Miss Ida Lee Ross spent the week
end in Athens with her brother, .Mr.
Charlie Ro&b, and they took in the
ball game Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Henry, Misses
Leila Henry nad Sara Lowe, and
Messrs. W. L. Sligh, 1 rank Kurson,
Paul Wier all went to Athens Satur
day to witness a ball game.
Among the relatives here Saturday
to attend the funeral of Dr. A. W. N.
Lanier, were Mrs. M. J. Tucker of
Sparta; Mrs. John Shields, of Win
der; Mr. Daws Lanier, of Alabama;
Mr. A. W. Lanier, of High Shoals;
Mr. Luther Lanier, of Winder; Mr
and Mrs. Ruie Lanier, of Sparta;
Mr. Thomas Lanier, of Atlanta; Mr.
and Mrs. Roriie Lanier of Winder;
Miss Winnie Perry entertained the
K. K. club on last. WedTesday. The
spacious veranda was a vision of
loveliness banked with ferns and cut
flowers. After an hour of pleasant
conversation and embroidering, ice
cream and cake were serened. Those
present will not be sorry when Miss
Winnie invites the K. K. club to
her home again, they had such a
jolly good time.

I)ir. A. W. N. Lanier was half
way in his 86th year when his tired
body found rest and his spirit a
brighter dime on last Friday it
the home of his son, W. S. Hanier.
For more than fifty years he worked
for the sick and suffering and all
who knew him loved liiin for his
kind and gentle way of ministering
unto them. Dr. Lanier was a good
man, a good husband and father. He
believed in doing the right tiling. He
was a man who had hosts of friends
He had been sick for quite a long
while and his death was not unex
pected. His funeral was conducted
by Rev. John Wood of Atlanta, who
paid many beautiful tributes to the
life he had lived. He leaves four
sons, two daughters and three' broth
ers to mourn for him.
School News.
Commencement exercises begin Fri
day evening with a program by dif
ferent grades and a play by high
school.
Sunday the commencement sermon
will be preached by H. T. Wood, of
Lawreneeville.
Monday at 10 o’clock the Literary
address will he delivered by Rev.
(J. L. King, Jr., of Woodstock. (la.
Mr. King is an eloquent speaker and
his address will be worth hearing.
Monday evening the graduating ex
ercises will be held and diplomas de
livered by Prof. Sligh.
A cordial invitation is extended to
all to be present on these occasions.

Notice is hereby given by the
Mayor and Council of the City of
Winder to the qualified voters of
said City that on the 2fth day of
May, 1915, an election will be held at
the City Hall, in said City of Win
der to determine the question wheth
er bonds shall be issued by the said
municipality.
The amount of said bonds to be
issued shall be Thirteen Thousand
($13,0000.00) Dollars, being twenty-
six (26) bonds of Five Hundred
($500.00) Dollars each, and if issued
the proceeds of (he sale of said bonds
shall be used for the erection of new
public school building or buildings;
to bear interest at the rate of five
per cent per annum, interest to be
paid semi-annually on the entire issue,
none of the principal to be paid an
nually, but the entire amount to be
fully paid off on July 1, 1945.
