SOCIAL NEWS ABOUT OUR NEIGHBORS
COUNTY LINE.
The fanners of Pentecost district
are cordially invited to attend a get
acquainted farmers meeting at Coun
ty Line next Saturday from 10 to
12 o’clock.
Quite a goodly number of our peo
ple attended the Sunday school con
vention at Zion Saturday and Sunday
They report good crowds, a big in
terest in the Sunday school work,
able sermons at the noon hours, and
loads of good things to eat.
There is an evil which I have seen
under the sun, and it is common
among men. The spirit of it seems
to he abroad In the land almost ev
ery Sunday night. On last Sunday
night some miscreant shot and killed
Mr. J. P. Hutchins’ fine dog at his
home near Auburn. The criminal
escaped. Whoever it is he passes
Sunday nights about 11 o’clock going
toward Auburn. We very ’often hear
a pistol shot before lie gets out of
hearing. One night I counted shots
from a 5-shot automatic pistol 15
times. I am writing this to call at
tention of members of the grand jury
and the officers of the law to this
law violation.
Sometime during the summer I
would like very much to meet all of
the county officers of Harrow coun
ty with all the district officers at
the court house in a get-acquainted
meeting. We could have experiences
from the old ones, and speeches from
the smart ones. We could feature
it with a picnic dinner. We could
carry along some members of our
families, too. Sale day in July—first
Tuesday—would be a nice time to be
gin. If we make Harrow county what
we hope to make it —the best coun
ty in Northeast Georgia, we will
have to get our people together of
ten; get them better acquainted, es
pecially the women and the boj*> and
glHs.
I like all day meetings, all day
preaching with dinner between, then
we want to encourage the Sunday
school convention and the all day
singings. We are neighbors? from
way across the county if we are ac
quainted. W. A. Hayes.

The Sunday School Convention at
Zion last Sunday was an enjoyable
occasion. All were made welcome,
all sumptuously fed at the dinner
hour and many more present than
could get inside the house. The day
passed off quietly and the behavior
was fine.
Mrs. W. M. Holsenteck, of Win
der, was assigned a place on the
program in the morning, and her talk
w'as highly instructive and much en
joyed. In the afternoon, Miss Ruby
Carithers, also of Winder, delighted
her hearers in a splendid effort.
There are some fine, splendid folks
living in and around Winder.
