the interested group which watched
the governor sign the bill, as did
President Davis of the senate, the
framer of the bill, and a number of
others, including both members of
the 1 legislature and representatives
of temperance organizations.
The Beginning of the End.
The liquor traffic thus admits “the
axe is laid at the root of the tree.”
B.it in all reality, the fight has just
begun to be at its fierc'est.
Anti-Saloon League has declared for
national prohibition. To this end her
organizations need more closely op
menting than ever. Every man and
woman who opposes the sale of li
quors ii needed now as never be

The liquor defiance ! n Georgia can
be crushed, and the “little wet po!

son, by two drastic measures fror
the next Legislature. And we wib
get thrm if we stand up side by
side and say: “We are going to have
them.” "
Sow let’s smite hip and thigh the
greedy conscienceless dealers and
liquor violators in Georgia ar.d those
shippers in .Jacksonville, Mobile, Cin
cmnatti, St. Louis and elsewhere who
are betraying public decency more
c utrag e ously as Judas Iscariot be

Sin is the most irksome and tragic
fact ip all the earth today. It is
a grim, fierce monster that knows no
seasons, times nor places. Like death
its resultant it is no respector of
persons. Hut and palace are alike
to this tremendous enemy of the
race. It hesitates not to lay a blight
ing hand upon the wise and the fool
ish, the learned and the unlearned,
the physically beautiful and the ex
traordinarily unattractive. The child
in the mother’s arms and the aged
man wrestling with his four score
years are alike looked upon as his
legitimate prey. Pure women and
stalwart manly men fight this mon
ster every day. The conflict is age
long and only the end of life will end
the battle. There comes an end to
s’orm and a close to the avalanche
but sin goes on and cn forever. The
Bible teaches it,. The human race
experiences it. The earth itself feels
its awful results. Only Christ is
victor over it.

farming. You will also see many
thousand acres of undeveloped land

The Peace Key Note.
The key-note of the demands con
cern ng women's re’ation to war was
sounded at the Hague conference by
Mrs. Pethick Lawrence, when she
dramatically analysed four points pe
cu iarly of interest to women. First
that modern war affects non-combat
ants more than the soldiers in the
field; second, that as the mothers
of the human race, women are the
natural custodians of human life and
shou’d use their endeavors * pre
vent men from destroying it; third,
that women will be called upon to
repair the awful ravages of war, and
fourth, that women occupy the
unique position of being able to pro
test against war without being called !
