wich feast last Friday afternoon at
Dunn’s Meadows in honor of Miss
Lula Hall, who is the much admired
guest of Mrs. S. M. St. John.

and Rev. H. N. Rainey of Winder
and other prominent speakers will
deliver addresses. Everyone is wel
come to attend and bring a lunch
basket filled with good things to
• eat.
Revival meeting is in progress at
the Christian church this week. Largt
-crowds are attending these services.
Rev. W. A. Chastain and Rev. N. D.
Meadow' are preaching some strong
sermons and much good will doubt
less result from the meetings.
A division meeting of the Barrow
county association will be held at
Union Grove church near here next
Sunday afternoon at 4 o’clock. Mr.
Claude Mayne, of Winder, president,
and Mr. E. A. Starr, secretary, will
be present; an address by- Col. Lewis
Russell, of Winder, and other inter
esting features make the program for
the afternoon one of the most in
teresting yet arranged by the com
mittee and every Sunday school in
the division is especially requested
to send representatives.

ley, a boy of 12, met death late yes
terday evening at the Mitchell’s
bridge plant of Athens Railway and
Electric company, coming in contact
with a live wire.

EIGHTH DISTRICT MASONS
WILL MEET AT ATHENS.
The city of Athens will entertain
the convention of the Eighth Dis
trict Masons on August 11th, and
her citizens are making extensive
preparations to give the visitors a
hearty welcome. An attractive pro
gram has been arranged, one of the
features of which will be a welcome
address by Mayor Dorsey. After the
morning session a barbecue dinner
will be served, and in the evening
the Master Masons degree will be
conferred by the Athens lodge.

number of the younger set last Sat
urday evening at a pretty porch par
ty, the honor guest being Miss. Viv
ian Wood, of Atlanta. 1
Vases of yellow daisies and golden
glow with ferns were used as decora- 1
tions. Progressive conversation was
enjoyed during the evening. A the
guests arrived they were served to
delicious punch and at a late hour an
ice course was served.

ham’s Sunday school class enjoyed
a sandwich fea*Jt at the Park last
Tuesday afternoon, which was follow
ed by a visit to the moving picture
show. The members present were

( Wider, Josephine House, Inez Rawlins,
I Sara Chandler, Loia Williams and
Maggie Perry; the chaperons were
Mrs. Parham and Miss Annette Ham
ilton.

Protracted meeting is in session at
this place. Large crowds are at
tending and Bro. Winn is delivering
some some very sermons. It is ex
pected to come to a close Thursday
night.
A party consisting of Messrs. P. R.
W. J. and J. T. Smith, Wesley Bell,
J. L. Peppers and others spent one
day last week in Oglethorpe county
turtle fishing. It is reported they
had good tuck and had a good time.

The Ladies Aid of the Baptist
church had a most enjoyable meeting
with Mrs. Gresham on Tuesday after
noon of last week.
At the conclusion of the business
program the guests were invited out
in the grove where a sumptous picnii
luncjj was spread. '

W. M. Holsenbeck.
