class out picnicking. They had a

be a task to get them to Sunday
school.
The Rev. Fuller is carrying on a
series of meetings at the Baptist
church of w'hich it is hoped great
good may be accomplished. Mr. Ful
ler is full of the Christian spirit and
has a way of meeting his friends
that many go out to hear him.
On last Thursday evening the home
of Mrs. L. M. Arnold was made mer
ry by bright lights and joyous
laughter. The cause of the happy oc
casion was the gathering together
of Mr. Arnold’s Sunday school class
The parlor and dining room were
thrown together where it was bril
liantly lighted with candles. On
the arrival of each guest punch was
served in the dining room where the
punch bowl was surrounded with

bright lights, cut flowers of yellow
and green, the decorations. After
a musical program rendered by Miss
Helen Arnold and Susie Eelle Per
kins an ice course was served. The
color scheme was carried out.
On last Friday evening at her
home on Broad street Miss Irene
Roberts beautifully entertained for
ty guests in honor of her visiting
friends, Misses Nina Mae Morrison,
Lizzie Ethridge, Ruth Gregory and
two young men from Jefferson. As
j:he‘ guests arrived they were served
to delicious punch, the punch bowl
l>eing placed on a table surrounded
wlith yellow and green. Miss Beulah
Roberts presided at the punch bowl
dressed in a lovely blue organdie em
pire. The color scheme of yellow and

green was carried out in every detail
At the conclusion of several enjoya
ble games and music a delightful Ice
course was served. Miss Roberts re
ceived her guests in a beautiful pink
crepe de chine.

The Union, singing choir met at
this place Sunday afternoon. It was
well attended and had some mighty
good singing. They will meet at Oak
Grove next first Sunday afternoon
in September.

Mrs. Homer Mahaffey of Winder,
while en route to services during re
vival here, came near having a se
rious accident, caused by a horse run
ning and throwing her out of the
buggy, but we are glad she is able
to be out and returned home.

Darby and Helen Arnold.
