Mr. J. L. Saul has returned from
Baltimore and New York where h%
spent ten days purchasing his fall
stock of goodus.. He bought his stock
just the same as if good times were
already here. He sayis the big deal
ers of the north are very optimistic
over the outlook for business and are
going along just as if our neighbors
were having a love-feast across the
ocean instead of killing each other.
Mrs. L. E. Herrin and Miss Fannie
Walker are in Atlanta this week
studying fall millinery styles. These
ladies preside over the millinery par
lors of J. L. Saul, and will again
reign there during fall season. The
patrons of these popular parlors will
be given the benefit of the knowledge
gained by this study during the com
ing season. The most fetching and up
. to date millinery will be offered the
trade by them.
Mr. E. D. Wyley, of Decatur, spent
Sunday in Winder.

Prominent Citizen Dies.
~Mr. A. M. F. Anderson, one of the
most prominent citizens of Hosch
ton, died at his home there August
23. Funeral services conducted by
Revs. Hawks and Irwin from the
Methodist church, August 25, at 11

parture. He is survived by four
brothers and four sisters.

Death of Good Woman.
Mils. J. D. Wiley, widow of the
late J. D. Wiley, of Riverside, near
Hosahton, died at the home of her
daughter, Mrs. E. F*. Hayes, Sunday,
August 23, at the age of 73 years.
She had been ill since the first of
the year. She leaves besides many
friends, five children to mourn her
departure, two boys and five girls:
W. F. Wiley, Meridian, Mis®.; B. M.
Wiley, Mrs. E. P. HSayee, Mrs. G. L.
Hays and Mrs. J. C. Dalton ail of
( Moschton. The funeral and interment
took place at Bethlehem church, on
| Monday.

Wymodausis Club.
Mrs. J. B. Parham entertained her
club, the Wymodausis, at a beautiful
porch party on Monday afternoon,
complimentary to her visitor, Mrs.
Homer Millican, of Carrollton.
Punch was served upon the arri
val of each guest.
The geographical romance and the
musical contest proved to be very in
teresting, Mrs. Pledger winning first
prize. Miss Ashley the consolation.
Delightful ices were served by
Misses Hamilton, Jackson and Perry.

The Ladies Aid Society of the
Baptist church will give an ice cream
festival next Tuesday from six to
ten o’clock P. M. on Mrs. W. B.
Mathews’ lawn on Candler street. All
are cordially invited to attend and
enjoy the occasion. Cream and cake
will be served. In caiSe of rain the
festival will be held in the Sunday
school room of the Baptist church.

close on last Sunday evening. Rev.
D S. Patterson delivered some very
able sermons that were strong and
helpful. There were 26 additions to
the membership of the church.
The jolliest occasion of the season
was a masquerade party given by
Helen Arnold on last Tuesday even
ing at her home on Broad street in
honor of Misses Wttie Belle Harrison
and Drue Willie Blell, of Bethlehem.
As each guest arrived they were car
ried into the parlor where they would
look on each other with wonder writ
ten on their features as to who they
