At the Christian Church.
On last Sunday the writer begun
his fourth pastorate at the above
named church, and he hopes this
be the greatest year in the church’s
history. Last Sunday was a great
day, large crowd and fine interest.
Wo shall look for every member,
able to attend on next Sunday. Come
to the Bible school. The church Is
preparing for a protracted meeting
and real spiritual revival during the
month of June.
Pray for this meeting, work for
your own spirit growth and you can’t
fail to work for the growth of
church and the salvation of the
world. Accept no excuse made to
yourself that you are not willing to
make to God.

Beautiful Watch Party Given.
Miss Mollie Smith entertained very
delightfully in honor of the Junior
Baracas and Junior Philatheas of the
Methodist Sunday School of Bethle
hem at her beautiful home near Win
der Friday, December 31, 1915.
Her guests began to arrive about
7:30 and by 8 o’clock the beautiful
parlor was filled with merry, jolly
faces eager to see the old year pass
away and the new year arrive.
The reception hall and parlor were
artistically decorated in the Christ
mas colors, red and green being
used.
After many enjoyable games, a
delightful salad course with hot cof
fee was served.
Just as the clock was striking the
hour of twelve the old year was
borne softly away by the tones of
ringing bells, then the guests de
parted, declaring the hostess a most
royal entertainer.
Those participating were as fol
lows: Misses Annie, Ettie Dell

Rev. B. W. Mercier, who for the
past year has been living in Bethle
hem, has moved to Winder. He will
travel for the Jackson County Nurs
ery. ,
Mr. M. M. Banks, who formerly liv
ed in Barrow county but who re
cently moved to Gwinnett, near Law
renceville, was a visitor to The News
this week. He ordered, his paper
sent to Lawrenceville, Route 5
jut couldn’t do without it, he said.

On Wednesday evening the young
people were entertained in a most
delightful manner at a pretty Christ
mas party given by Mrs. A. D. Mc-

Mr. Warren H. Toole, Jr., who
spoilt the holidays with his parents
was the honor guest.
After a contest in hat trimming,
in which the prize was drawn for,
by Warren Toole, and Herschel Wil
liams, ices and cake were served.

Mrs. L. W. Hodges entertained two
tables of Five Hundred. Wednesday
afternoon, in honor of Miss Mellie
Stanton, of Social Circle, who is the
guest of her sister, Mrs. Lee De La
Perriere. In the living room wthere
tables were arranged for the games
potted plants and blooming hyacinth®
were artistically placed on mantels,
and tables.
After the games a delicious salad
course with German tea, was served.

son, Mrs. McHenry, Mrs. Walter
Cooper, Mrs. Homer Smith, Mrs. Roy

Theater Party.
One of the most enjoyable affairs
of lasit week was the matinee party
new year's day at the No-Name The
ater given by Mrs. R. O. Ross in
honor of her sister, Miss Farrar; wiic
is soon to return to her home in At
lanta. During the performance bon
boite were passed and afterwards a
wetner feast was enjoyed at the
cafe. Those entertained were MLs

Sunday, Dec. 26th, at the home of
the bride's parent** near Chapel
church, Miss Bertha Baird and Mr.
J. 11. Wheeler were united in the
holy bonds of wedlock. Rev. S. P.
Higgins performed the ceremony.
The young couple are now at home
to their friends at the residence of
the groom, near County Line.

Smith to Mr. Claude Jones. The
bride is the pretty young daughter ol
Mr. Ashberry Smith, of Midway. The
groom is the son of Mr .Warren
Jones, of the same place. They have
our heart! st congratulations.
Payne-Wilbanks.
Miss Lucile Payne, of Wiatkinsville,
and Mr .Ernest Wilbanks, of Oak
Grove, were united in holy wedlock
last Sunday. The bride is popular

young planter of Oak Grove. Judge
J. M. Haynie performed tihe cere
mony. They are now at the home ot
the groom’s father, Mr. T. K. Wil
banks, receiving the congratulations
of their many friends.
MaJ. Moore, of the Granite Hotel,
gave to the police department of
the City of Winder and the officials
of the county a New Year’s dinner.
Turkey and, cranberry sauce, hog
jowl and peas, and numerous and
sundry other viands were served the
guests. Sim Hill employed a special
waiter to pilot him through the
menu.
