iorcdful charge been given to jury of

judge at this term of the court. In
addition to the general laws required
to be given the judge dwelled at

necessity of enforcing it after it be

Daring his charge the court took oc
casion to read to the jury some reso
lutions, submitted to him by Farm
ers' Union urging him to give in
■charge the law relative to usury and
anawe'tiiig on the jury moulding a
strong sentiment against the practice
f loaning money at a greater rate oi
interest than is allowed by law. To
tin's resolution the c*ourt said that it
•as an infraction upon the law an and
sight for any one to charge greater
wdertKt than was prescribed by the

Sunday School Institute.
Beginning Monday nighit, March 6,
and lasting through Saturday night
there will be conducted at the First
Baptist church each evening from
7:30 to 9 o'clock, a Sunday School In
stitute. The Sunday School Normal
Manual wall be need a® a text book.
Prof. J. P. Cash will teach “Sunday
School History,” and “Child Nature."
Rev, W. H. Faust will teach “The
Book by Book.” At the close a
diploma will be given to each student
satisfactorily completing the course.
Every one m Winder interested in
Sunday school work should take the
course. Both teachers are experts in
their lines.
Just a tablet, the text book and
a week’s hard work and great good
will result. See either of the teach
ers in the course and enroll at once
notice to same and to thus mould sei
timent against it and thereby check
the great abuse of the law
Along this line he called attention
to the law governing the federal
banks in which if it should become
Insolvent or closed the depositors
could go direct to the stockholders
and make collections of their money
deposited without waiting for invest j
igating and litigations that would nat
urally follow the closing of a bank.
Otu the other hand he said such was
not the case with state banks and
that some legislation should be en
acted correcting the method in this
particular so that the depositors
would not have to wait unitl the
defunct bank had all its litigations
and many of the stock holders either
become insolvent, went into bankrupt
cy or other wise become so as the
money could not be made out of
them.
