THIS IS A SILK SEASON
The old adage that “The harder to
obtain the most eagerly sought”
seems to be demonstrated more ful
ly than ever in the sale of silks for
1916.
It is a well known fact that on
account of the seriousness of condi
tions in the dye market the contin
ued upward trend of price in raw
silk makes it impossible to obtain
certain silks at any price. It is fur
ther true that the silks which are
coming through are bought at a
premium. The consumer is only ask
ed a small percentage of this ad
vance and in many instances no ad
vance.

“ The S/ore Good Goods Mia de Popular”
Innocent, But Dangerous Fun.
A few years ago in a city near
Winder were a lot of boys who
learned that a small rubber band
would throw a shot, a spit ball, or
a pin to good advantage is used as a
sling shot. They had a lot of fun
in school and on the street shooting
anything they could get.
Once there gathered quite a crowd
to hear some gentleman lecture and
one of these thoughtless boys shot
a pin into the eye of the speaker
which made him to suffer much pian
and lose the eye. A damage suit was
the result and the parent of the boy
had to foot the bill. An eye, an ear,
or skin pierced by these thoughtless
boys is worth more than the fun
they get out of it.
Tn an assembly in Winder recent
ly I saw any number of boys thus
engaged and creating quite a dis
turbance. Now why don’t the par
ents or someone who knows of this
report such acts and have them stop
before someone is hurt.
These boys never think of any
harm; they are just bubbling over
with fun and frolic, and on this oc
casion they were not permitted to
see the whole performance on ac
count of the screen arrangement.
Now had they been differently lo
cated and not placed as they were
off to themselves, but had a mother,
father, or older person near them to
check this error they would have
been classed model boys.
