The Nifty Dozen club was most
delightfully entertained at the home
of Miss Marie Herrin Friday after
noon. After an hour of sewing, du
ing which time music was rendered
by the different girls, a delicious ice
course was served.
One of the enjoyable events among
the children was the Easter Egg
Hunt given by Mrs. H. P. Stanton
.and -Mrs. T. A. Maynard. About thir
ty little children were present. Af
ter the eggs were found the children
were served with lemonade and cake.

rial Day exercises and the unveiling
of the handsome new Confeder
ate monument at Lexington Wednes
day and repcrt one of the greatest
occasions that Oglethorpe county had
ever witnessed. __

his fine sermons at the Christian
church Sunday afternoon.
Quite a number of our people were
in Atlanta on Wednesday attending
grand opera.
Dr. H. L. White spent a part of
this week in Athens the guest of
his sister.
Mrs. W. S. Lanier has as her
guest this week her sister, Mrs. Lock
hart and children of Atlanta.
Mrs. William Henry had as her
week-end guest, Mrs. H. J. Lott, of
Hoschton.
Miss Mayrelle Cronic spent the
week-end in Hoschton with home
folks.
Mrs. W. D. McDonald and Mra
Jane Arnold spent Tuesday in Win
der the guest of Mrs. G. W. McDon
ald.
Miss Marie Treadwell spent a part
of last week in Atlanta the guest
of relatives.
Ms. Judson Horton and children,
of Atlanta, are spending some time
here with relatives.
Mrs. R. A. Nunually had as her
guests last week Dr. and Mrs. C.
S. Williams, of Winder.
Miss Marie Boyd entertained a few
of the younger set out at her subur
ban home on last Saturday evening.
As each guest entered punch was
served. After an hour of conversa
tion and games refreshments were
served. As each guest went away
they declared Miss Boyd a delight
ful hostess. Those present were
Misses Lara Mae Weir, Mary Rod
gers, Birta Mae Ross Lucile Rylee,
Lollie Mae Hammond, Messrs. Way
man Jones, R. B. Arnold, Almond
Arnold and C. Roberts.
Mrs. W. M. Dempsey left Mon
day for her home in South Georgia.
She was accompanied by Mrs. T. J.
Sikes as far as Atlanta where she
will attend grand opera.
Messrs. Kemp Arnold, Roy Perkias
Paul Wier,'Misses Sarah Lowe and
Ida Lee Ross, motored to Hoschton
Sunday where they were guests of
friends.
Dr. S R. Belli will lecture at the
auditorium May 4. Subject “Laugh
ter and Sunshine.” His lebtures are
very fine.
On last Thursday afternoon the
'teachers from the 7th grade down,
gave their children an Easter egg j
hunt. Something near 200 children j
enjoyed this fun and after finding
all the eggs they enjoyed a great
big drink of lemonade.
On last Saturday morning Mrs. W.
J Ross gave her Sunday school boys
an egg hunt. Clyde Bolton found the
gold egg. A little story book was
awarded him as prize.
An interesting class meeting of
the 9th grade was held Tuesday. The
class was organized with the follow
ing officers: President, Hoyt Rob
ertson; Vice President, Laura Mr.e
Wier; Secretary and Treasurer, Em
mett Steed. The colors are pink and
green and the flowers the Kilarney
Rose. “To Be Rather Than To
Seem,” is the class motto.
Rev. D. S. Patterson preached two
very able sermons on Sunday morn
ing and evening.
Mrs. Wilburn Grizzle has as her
guest this week the Misses Grizzle
from out in the country.
Saturday a few of the Junior
girls and boys spent a very delight
ful day picnicking at Double Bridges
about six miles from town. The par
ty went in wmgons and left town at
10:30. After arriving the party en
joyed fishing for about an hour, af
ter which a very tempting lunch
was served. Those composing the
party were: Misses Mattieleen Bur
sen, Ossie Cooper. Berta Mae Ross,
Fannie Mae and Ora Belle Sims,
Pearlie Hammond. Beulah Roberts,
Willie Mae Lyle. Messrs. Almand and
Fred Arnold, Wirt Chambers, Clar
ence and Jack Sims, M illie Ham
mond, and the .chaperones were Mrs.
Mae Hardigree and Miss Lena Ross.

Sunday School Reunion.
The annual reunion of the Sunday
schools of the Mulberry association
will be held at Walnut church the
first Saturday in May, beginning at
9:30 o’clock. The day will be spent
in singing and speaking by Sunday
school pupils of the various Sunday
schools in the second section. Ev
erybody is invited to attend and
carry dinner.
