Honoring Two 'prides.
Mrs. S. T. Ross and Mrs. L. E. Her
rin were joint hostess at a pretty re
ception last Friday afternoon, at the
home of Mrs. Ross, on Candler street,

Easter lilies were an effective decor
ation throughout the reception floor,
ami in the dinning room the table
centerpiece was a tall silver vase
Silled with these stately flowers and
placed at intervals. ’ Over the lace cov
ered table were downy chickens and
crystal compotes, holding pink mints.
The candles had pink shades and
every detail of the appointment was
tasteful and beautiful.

Howard Rogers R. H. Kimball and
Miss Pearl Farrar served In the din
ning room.
Mesdames J. W. Griffeth and raul
Autry gave several vocal selections,
and little Evelyn Herrin and Haftie
Eugenia DeLaPerriere recited, which
were delightful features of the occas
ion.
Mrs. Ralph Smith and Miss Ora Lee
Car.tp had charge of the Edison, and
furnished music throughout the after
noon.
Summerour-Eskridge.
Mr. and Mrs. G. S. Summerour, of
Winder, announce the engagement of
their daughter, Ella Mae, to Mr. Clyde
Eskridge, formerly of Shelby, X. 0.,
butWiow of Winder, the marriage to
be sSemnized at the home of the bride’s

Enjoyable Event at White’s Mill
A most enjoyable event of last Satur
day afternoon was the egg hunt at
White’s Mill given, by Miss Lizzie Mor
gan to her friends.
The weather was inclement but a
number gathered.
After the eggs were found by the
children, games were played and de-
licious cake was served.

Helen Graddick, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. F. C. Graddick, entertained at
a very enjoyable Easter egg hunt.
Tuesday afternoon. After a plea sent
hour they were escorted to the City
Pharmacy, by Mrs. Paul Autry, where

and Mr. Jackson is one of the rising
young business men. The wedding is
to occur in June.

Mr. and Mrs. E. Sykes, of Atlanta,
were the week-end guests of relatives
here.
Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Perkins were in
the city Sunday afternoon.
Miss Emmaline Sykes is spending
a few days' with her parents.
Mrs. J. T. Perkins returned from a
visit to relatives hi Mondoe.
Mrs. W. I). Bolton, of Elberton,
spent a few days last week with her
mother, Mrs. Georgia McDonald.
J. S. Burson was carried to Athens
last. Thursday and underwent a very
serious operation. He is doing very
nicely.
Mrs. Edd Ross is spending some time
in Cleveland with her mother, Mrs. J.
W. Tliurmand.
Carl Thurmand has accepted a posi
tion in Cleveland. His friends hated
to have him leave.
Mr. Pike Hutchins was on the sick
list a few days last week.
Miss Maude Gordan lias as her
guest this week, her niece. Miss Jen
nie Lou Strance, of Atlanta.
Miss Mayelle Perry entertained a
few of her friends at an informal af
fair Saturday evening.
Little Miss Bettie Hammond, of
Athens, spent Sunday with Fannie Lee
Haynie.
Col. W. M. Smith, of Athens, nil 1
Col. G. A. Johns, of Winder, were the
dinner guests Wednesday of Mr. and
Mrs. C. B. Chambers.
Mrs. C. B. Chambers spent two
months in different parts of Florida,
earing here the 18tli of January, and
returning 20tli of March.
During the time she was away, no

The climate was just grand, sun

Daytonia, spent part of the time at
Daytona beach, which is one of the
grandest scenes, that eye can behold It
ii recognized as the finest racing beach
ii the world today.. From here to
tie grand old town of St. Augustine
o' which we reeonize as our mother
aid then to the grandest state in the
Lttiou, Georgia, and home to the beau
tiful little town of Statham, Barrow,
Ciunty, 7 miles of Winder, county site
which we love so well. Florida is a
fine place to spend your winter months.

most every state in the Union, but give
me the grand old red hills of Georgia,
our native state, and the good people
of Barrow county.
