The laziest man in the country is

About the only thing calculated to
cause more lobors to go to the farm

that speeches, newspaper articles and
conferences will never solve.
It has reached the point in churcn
life in a great many places, that it
is easier to do a thing yourself than
it is to' go around and eoax and beg
and persuade others to do it.
When a man moves from one city
to another, he always takes his clothes,
his friends and his auto, hut generally
leaves Ids religion and his church mem
bership in the old cemetery behind the
church.
Some people’s idea of religion is to
have a great stir during a revival and
then never work another leg while a
year rools around and another revival
comes along.
Plenty of fellows are rich when It
comes to going to grand opera and

to carry on his kingdom work.

It doesn’t take a wise man these

ACREAGE INVEST
MENT INSURANCE
The intent and purpose of Acreage
Investment Insurance is to gunrantdb
the safe return of t.lie grower’s invest
ment made to raise ills crops. Tills it
will do should the growing crops be
damaged either by insects, disease,
drought, frost, excessive moisture, or
winter-kill.
Thir is the form of protection the
farmer has been calling for, for many
years past. This is the burden he
has been carrying on his own should
ers until those shoulders have become
bent, his pocket-book kept empty, and
in thousands upon thousands of in
stances has caused men to abatidon
their agricultural activities and take
tip some other work in life.
Acreage Insurance protects the grow
er against those common enemies which
are always present and may at any
time strike it death-blow to his crop.
It does not guarantee a certain yield
I per acre, neither does it promise any
! profit, but it does guarantee to the pol
icyholder this: that should his crops
be destoryed, he will break even, re
ceiving from the Company compensa
tion for his labor and seed, toilet her
with that of his horse-labor, and a
fair interest, return on bis land invest
ment. It assures the farmer that this
is the worst which can happen: either
he breaks even or lie wins, for the hold-
jer of an Acreage Investment policy
'cannot lofce.
No acre of any kind or crops is al
ways safe: neither soil, climate, nor
science of agriculture is infallible; re
gardless of how good or favorable are
all conditions, regardless of how clev
er is the farmer, some day, and unex
pectedly, one of these enemies will
strike. They have done so in tho past
and agricultural science admits that,
they will strike again.
This protection is as good as “buy”
for the farmer who has few hazards
to combat as it is for the grower who
lias the entire army to battle with. If
your chance of loss is in sight, so is
the Company’s liability, which means
the rate in your country is very low,
conforming to the risk assured.
The rates are built from n solid foun
dation —past performances of the far
mer's land. This statistical data cov
er* a period of from ten to twenty
years, and what has happened during
sucli a period of time can lie expected
to repeat itself.
There is no other form of insurance
like it, neither is there a likeness of the
policy contract. There is no other
form of insurance which gives to the
assured so many privileges as does
Acreage Investment. It has been built
by a farmer who had a thorough un
derstanding of the farmer's needs'; con
structed for the farmer, written in
farmer language—short and right to
the point. No technique was allowed
in its makeup. It plainly states what
it promises to do and what it does not
promise. There is no chance of its
intent and purpose being misconstrued.
The applicant, with the assistance
of our schedule makes an itemized list
of his acreage investment. It is left
to him to make his own contract, the
Company merely asking that he con
fine his total to correspond with the
sum representing his actual cost to
grow the crop. He it is who determines
the cost of seed, twine, ground rental,
etc. His application is returned to

Tornadoes
Tornadoes have visited many of the Southern
States. A tornado brought destruction to La
grange. Braselton was almost destroyed by a
tornado. A tornado could come to Winder;
we hope not, but be prepared with one of our
Tornado policies if one should come.

Tornadoes
Tornadoes are supposed by some people to come only in the Spring
or Summer, but the fact is that they come any time and damage all kinds
of property.
NO DISTRICT IMMUNE
You can do a great deal to lessen the chance of your property being
damaged by fire, hut you can do practically nothing to prevent your
building from windstorm or tornado damage.
The importance of carrying tornado insurance is therefore obvious.
To he sure, the chance of a severe windstorm damage is small, hut
so is the cost of your windstorm or tornado policy.
Besides the heavy loss, this protects you against small losses where
the windstorm blows off shutters or breaks windows or damages roofs.
Isn’t this worth investigating?
If you think so, why not call upon the agent and get full particulars.
Do it now, tomorrow may he too late.
CYCLONES, as deiined by Prof. F. 11. Bigelow, are the ordinary storms
that move over the United States, coming from the northwest or south
west, and usually passing off toward the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Some
times they are 1,000 miles in diameter.
TORNADOES are small in area compared to cyclones, but are much
more terrible. A tornado is only a mile or so wide at the top and con
siderably less at the bottom. Its chief characteristic, in the words of
p ro f. a. J. ilenrv, are, first, a pendant funnel, and second, violent winds
The rotary winds may have any speed from 100 to 500 miles an hour,
declares Mr. Harvy M. Watts, another authority.
HURRICANES are storms of wide area, GOO to sot) miles in diameter,
and of intense violence. They generally enter the United States from
the south or southeast, says Prof. 1 iigelow. lhev usually tiau-1 b\ a
curved track northwestward, then shift to the northeastward and leave
the country via the Atlantic States and New England.
