I will write you tonight to
let you know I am O. K. We are
now stationed about 20 inile
of Coblenz and guess we will be
here two or three months or we
may not be here very long. I
hope we will spend the 4th of
July in the states. Germany
is a beautiful country when the
earth is covered with snow. This
part of it is a mountainous
country and you have to look al
most straight up to see the top
of the mountains. There is a
big valley and then a big moun
tain thousands of of feet high.

About three weeks after I ar
rived in France I took the
mumps and went to the hospit
al and about three days after
that the company went to the
front. I stayed there two weeks
and was transferred to the 3rd
army and 3rd division at the
time this division was on the
front. Bo I started up there
and in about 20 miles of the
front we met this division com
ing back for two or three weeks’
rest. Believe me we could hear
the big guns firing and w T hile
we were here resting peace was
declared, so you see liow lucky
I was.
