THE BARROAV TIMES
GET READY FOR 1920
AND 1930
There will he more building in
AA'inder this year than for the
past two or three. The people
want to come here and the only
way they can come is to build
more houses.
1920 is census year and if every
man who can, will build one or
two more houses our population
hv that time will run to over
4500.
Would ’nt it be great if we
could reach 5000 in 1920.’ It can
be done if every man will do his
duty, get a move on him, talk AA'in
der, work for AA'inder and all pull
together.
If we can do this, by 1930 we
will have 10.000 population. By
the way, it will not take 1930 long
to get here and let’s begin right
now to look ahead a few years
and plan for big things. The man
who' never gets beyond the pres
ent year, cannot see very far, and
it would be a dificult matter for
him to recognize the three or four
skyscrapers that will be here by
1930. Talk AA’inder,
LAWYER AND FARMER.
Col. Lewis C. Russell believes
in being a big lawyer and a big
farmer and puts energy in both of
these.
On his fine farms in Barrow and
Hall counties-he runs fifty plows
and between his law and farms he
is a busy man and A hustler.
If he ever finds the time to
think about marrying he will be
a busy man sure enough with
three professions to look after.
COR. EMORY L. WHITLEY
BACK.
Corporal Emory L. AA'liitley
reached home last Saturday from
France via. New A'ork. He was
in France sevn months and was
near the front when the armstice
was signed.
He is proud to be at home in
AA’inder again after having dis
charged his duty to his country,
and says this is the greatest and
most glorious country in the
world and that he is willing to re
main here the remainder of bis
days.
Emory had good health during
his service and landed in New
York April 11, after a voyage of
fourteen days.
Both of Air. J. L. AA’liitley’s sons
are at home with honorable dis
charges and he is proud of them
and happy over their safe return.
ALBERT McDANIEL RETURNS
FROM OVERSEAS.
Albert McDaniel, son of Mr.
Dave McDaniel, returned from
overseas last week where he ex
perienced the hardest fighting,
perhaps, of any of our boys.
He was in all the terrific com
bats at Chautiau Theiry, in the Ar
gonne Forest and other places.
He was also one of the lost bat
talion in No Alan’s Land that had
to be fed from airplanes. Albert
did hard fighting and endured
many hardships, but comes back
home proud of his record, and that
he was an American soldier.
He is looking well and in fine
health and spirits, ready for the
duties which lie out before him.

O’SHIELDS BRIDGE NEAR
ING COMPLETION
The new steel bridge across the
Alulberry river, known as the
O’Shields Bridge, is nearing com
pletion and will be ready for trav
el in about fifteen days. This is
a line bridge between Barrow and
Jackson counties and they are
jointly building it.
Good bridges and good roads
are essential to good counties and
if our people will get ready and
vote for good road bonds we will
keep in the procession.
Jackson county will do this on
Alay 14th, and Barrow county
should fall in line. County pride
and county progress demand this
of us all.
MR. JOHN HAYNIE HOME
AGAIN.
Air. John Haynie reached home
safe and sound from France last
week after service in the Ameri
can army for eight months.

He is glad to he at home again
from the bloody battlefields of
France and Belgium, and hopes,
there will he no more wars ,
Like all the boys who have re
lumed. he is looking well which
indicates that our government
looked after the health and wel
fare of it’s troops.
