Social and Personal News Miss Thelma Barber Hostess to Her Club. On Tuesday afternoon Aliss Thelma Barber entertained the Sewing Club at her home on , Church street. These little Misses are feeling more like doing fancy work and playing games since the don’t have to think about getting up lessons and standing examina tions now for three months and too they are happy over their pro motion to another grade, and yet they feel sad over leaving their third grade teacher, Miss P’ay Wilkinson, who is one of the most efficient teachers we have ever known. After the games, little Miss Bar ber assisted by her sister, Sarah Barber, and her mother' served refreshments. Those enjoying the charming lit tle hostess hospitality were;Misses Fay Wilkinson, Blanche Smith, Cert rude Young, Mary Lamar Jackson, Marietta Faust, Virginia Cooper, Helen Gradick. Junior Missionary Society. The Junior Missionary Society of the M. E. church at Winder did good work last year. They made enough points to he placed on the honor roll by North Georgia Conference for which they received an honor certificate at the annual conference last March. They also conducted a Mission study class using the Mission study book Jack and Janet in the Philipines, also reported regularly which they received a star with a gold seal for reward. The Junior’s of North Georgia have pledged 3000 subscribers to their paper, the “Young Chris tian Worker” and $3,500.00 as their goal. All the children of Winder are invited to these meet ings every Ist and 3rd Sunday af ternoon at 3:00 o ’clock. They are beginning anew study book, “Jack of All Trades” and will be told in story form by Mas ter Joe Harrison next Sunday. McCants, 2nd-vice president. Mrs. H. E. Millikin Hostess to Her Club. r On last Thursday afternoon at tier home on Park avenue, Mis. H. E. Millikin entertained the Young Matrons’ Federated Club and other friends at a beautiful “daisy” party. The dining room and living room were lovely with baskets of daisies on tables, mantels and cab inets.^ Mrs. AY. A. Bradley and Mrs. K F. Saxon served punch, which was placed in a bed of daises and gray lax in the living room. Mrs. Millikin received her guests in her usual charming way and was assisted by Mrs. Clyde Will iamson and Mrs. J. L. Jackson. Five tables were arranged for “500”, and after many interest ing games, a most delicious salad course was served with tea. Those enjoying Mrs. Million's hospital ity were; Mosdames W. O. Perry, -A D. Mrs. W. L. DeLaper riere entertained the Young Ma tron’s Cluh and other friends at one of the pretiest parties of the season, on last Friday afternoon. All the down stairs was thrown together and made a beautiful pic ture with quantities of Dorathy Perkin’s roses used on tables and cabinets. The electric lights were shaded in pink and the color scheme of pink and green was in evidence. The hostess two charming and attractive sisters, Misses Mellie and Lila Mae-Stanton, were with her on this occasion and helped her receive. Seven tables were arranged for “500” and many interesting games together with music were enjoyed during the afternoon and a most delightful salad course was served later in the afternoon. The Ladies’ Aid Society of the Christian church will meet in the church parlors on Tuesday after noon, June 3rd, at 4:30. All the members are urged to be present at this meeting. Miss Sarah Joe Roberts Entertains. ' Miss Sarah Joe Roberts enter tained a few of her friends at a matinee party on Saturday after noon, in honor of her house guests, Misses Mary and Julia Nix, of Lawrenceville. After enjoying the picture at the Strand, they came back to the home of the hos tess and games were enjoyed and a delightful salad course with tea was served. Mis Roberts is a very charming little hostess. The invited guests were; Misses Julia Nix, Mary Nix, Carolyn Ai ken, Elizabeth Rankin, Nannelle Starr,Annie Lou Lamback, Gladys Eavenson, Pauline Roberts, and Messrs. Lamar Perry and W. C. Horton. Tom Sims of the Winder Bottling Works, who was struck while diving a truck several days ago in Gainesville by the Gaines ville Alidland train, is said to be improving very rapidly. This is good news to his friends here. A card received this morning from Lieut. Jno. AY. Carrington mailed at Biarritz, Alay 14, said “Tomorrow 1 will visit Spain”, and further said that he would be home about September. Air. 11. A. Carithers, Jr., and Air. J. AY. Rev. and Mrs. Bruce Nay, of Athens, were with Mr. and Mrs. John Shields for a few hours Sun day, and attended the services at the Christian church that evening. Mrs. W. M. Robinson, of Atlan ta, is spending several days with Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Brooks. Mrs. Robinson came to attend the grad uating exercises if Miss Frances Brooks. Aliss Patience who is in school at Lucy-Cobb, came over for the graduating exercises here and is spending the time with her friend Aliss Alary Louise Johns. Airs.
