Social and Personal News Sberidan-Austin. Avery pretty home wedding was that of Miss Grace Sheridan to Mr. Lucious Austin, on Wtd tiesday, July 23rd. * The ceremony was performed in an impressive manner by Kev. J. P. Chandler. The home of the bride was taste fully decorated for the occasion with a profusion of cut dowers and ferns. A pretty floral arch, hanked with ferns, was erected on the piazza, under which the hridal couple stood while the solemn words were spoken which made them one. A large concourse of relatives and friends were in attendance, bearing witness to the deserved popularity of these young people. Many pretty and useful gifts were received. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Sheridan, of this city, and is noted for her beauty of face and disposition. She held a position in the public schools last; year. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Austin and is a spier.? did young man, who has recently returned from France. He has a position with the Winder Lumber Cos. Mr. and Mrs. Austin left for an extended trip, visiting Atlanta, Macon, Oordele and other points. The Young Matrons’ Club Entertain Husbands. On Thursday afternoon last, the Young Matrons’ Club entertained their husbands at a picnic, onac eount of the rain the motor ride to the woods had to be abandoned, but didn’t prevent their getting together and enjoying a beautiful spread and a good time. They met at the home of Mr. and M rs. Kim bell and Mr. and Mrs. Blasiname and enjoyed a delicious supper spread in the large dining room, which was followed ia'Mf in 1 he ev ening by a watermelon cutting on the spacious lawn. Master Roger Miller Host. Master Roger Miller, entertain ed a few of his friends at a mati nee party on Wednesday after noon, eeletrating his eleventh birthday. After enjoying the pis tures at the Strand, they returned to Rogers home, where Mrs. Mil let served delightful refreshments. Those enjoying this occasion were : Master’s Joseph Perry, Willis Young, Fulford Cook and Lamar Perry. Baptist Ladies Aid Society. The Aid Society met in the chuurch parlors on Tuesday after noon. Qude a large number of ladies were present, and aiter the business session and program, the hostesses, Mesdames 0. O. Maddox and Elder carried the members of the society to the Winder Soda Fount, where a delightful ice course was served. Mrs. W. 0. Perry spent Tuesday in Atlanta. Mrs. L. A. Cook returned Tues day from a visit of several weeks token old home at Dawson, lon el I County. Mr. J. T. Wright, one of Hie clever and prosperous citizens oi Aubuurn, route 2, was in the city Tuesday on business. While here he renewed his subscription to 1 he Times for another year. Messrs. Clove. Arthur and Hoy Perry were in the city Tuesday on business. Misses Alice King and Arlevia Burson and lcio Smith were visit ors to Athens Tuesday. Mr. S. P. Smith and son, Shan non, were visitors to Athens and AVatkinsville Tuesday. Misses Josephine Lambaek, of Elberton, and Ruth Lambaek, of Augusta, are spending a while with their grand-parents, Rev. and iMrs. John 11. Alashburn. Miss Flossie Henson will visit friends in Tignall next week. Mrs. Emmett Bond and chil dren, Thoburn and Mildren, from Camben, S. C., are visiting rela tives here. Mrs. Elmer llaynie of Norcross, is visiting her mother, Mrs. H. G. Segars, this week. Mr. R. L. Eavenson left Wed nesday for Charleston, where the Bell Overall Cos. of Winder is pull ing up another large plant. Miss Sadie Harris returned Tuesday from Logansville, where she has been visiting friends for a week. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Albert Williams at their home on Wood lawn avenue Wednesday, a little girl. Mr. Mark Anthony of Atlanta, is the guest of his parents, 31 r. and Mrs. D. A. Anthony. Mrs. J B. Thrasher and children of Statesboro, are with Dr. and Mrs. Quillian for several weeks. .Mrs. J. T. Quillian and Mrs. Claud Little and Mr. Ford Little, from Commerce, spent Tuesday with Dr. and Mrs. Quillian. Miss Esther Henson will leave Friday to visit Miss Inez Dcckey, at Piedmont, Ala., Rev. R. E. Moss conducted a baptism service last Tuesday af ternoon at four o’clock at Snow’s Mill, for the (Hood Hope Christian Church in Walton County. Mrs. W. 11. Stanton and Miss Martha Adams, of Social < ’ircle, were the guests last Sunday of Dr. and Mrs. W. L. DeLaperriere. Mr. C. L. Bennett, of near Com merce, one of Jackson counties’ best citizens, and progressive far mer, passed through Winder yes terday en route to Atlanta. Tiie many friends of Mr. Sam Stein, who has been confined in an Atlanta sanitarium with typhoid fever, will he glad to know he is very much improved. Mrs. W. L. DeLaperriere is vis iting her parents, -Mr. and Mrs, W. 11. Stanton at Social Circle for a few days. Miss Maude Suddath, of Dou glas, Ca., and Miss Inez Suddath, of Maysville, are visiting their cousin, Mrs. D. 1). Kesler. Miss Nina Stewart, who has been the attractive guest of rel atives and friends in (late City, Ya. and Tenn., for the past sever al weeks, returned home ast Sun day. Mr. Ernest Sims and Mr. Clyde Eskridge were in Atlanta last week-end. Mr. Calvin Eweing and family, of Atlanta, are spending several days with relatives and friends here. Mr. Ernest Arnold spent the week-end in Covington with friends (?) Mr. W. F. Hubbard, cashier of The North Georgia Trust and Banking Cos., spent the week-end with his family at Elberton. Miss Bernice Lay, of Gainesville is the guest this week of her uncle, and aunt, Mr. and Mis. N. J. Kel ly- Dr. and Mrs. Gibson Nowell, of Atlanta, are spending a few days here this week with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. J. J’. Ray will leave Saturday for Blue Ridge for an outing and rest of two weeks Blue Ridge is a live little city in Fannin county and the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hay before coming to Winder a few years ago. The Times wishes for them a pleasant visit in their old home and safe re turn to Winder. Messrs Albert and Walter Ben ton have returned from Fort Val ley, where they have been for Sov eral weeks, and are now at the Winder National Bank. Mrs. Ella O’Shields, of Monte zuma, is spending sometime with her mother, Mrs. M. J. Perry and other relatives. Col J. A. Ayers, of Jefferson, passed through Winder Monday. Mr. and Mrs. J. TANARUS, Walden and children, spent several days in Gainesville last week. Miss Reunette Westeott, of Ma con, was the week-end guest of Misses Ora Lee and Pauline Camp. Mrs. Levia Hodges and Mr. Er nest Harry Hodges spent Sunday in Logansville. Air. and Mrs. Judson Hardigree and Mrs. J. L. Jackson and Miss Marguerite Jackson spent Friday in Atlanta. Miss Alary Bird McGowan, of Greer, S. (’., is the guest of Aliss Louise House. Aliss AlcGowan’s father w as city electrition here for several years. Airs. Emma McCleskey, of At lanta, is the guest of Air. and Airs. S. C. Potts, and other relatives here this week. Air. Walter Russell returned friday from a visit to Washington, D. < \, Air. and Alts. Fulblight, moved Tuesday to their new home recent ly purchased from Air. J. A. Sud deth, on East Broad Street. Mrs. T. Al. Foster ana Mr. Ralph Foster, are spending a few days at Bishop. Mr. John A. Suddath was in the city Monday. Dr. Sikes, of Statham, was in Winder Monday. It is impossible for all those who wish to come to Winder to find homes. We nee at least 100 new houses to accommodate those anx ious to locate here. Winder is on the greatest boom in all of its history. Mrs. W. H. Faust and little daughter, Marietta, and Mrs. W. A. Brooks, are spending the week at Clayton, up in the mountains of North Georgia. Mrs. W. 11. Faust spent last week with the parents of Mr. Faust, in Oglethorpe County. Misses Julia Thomas and Mae Moore were the week-end guests of Miss Mary Alice Thomas, of Eastville, Ga. STATHAM. Miss Marguerite Bishop of At hens, is visiting .Miss Louise Dan iel. Dr. T. J. Sikes was a delegate to the Masonic Convention at Toceoa last Thursday. From he went to Atlanta, where he was with his son, Eustace. He returned Sunday. Mr. Henry Perry and son John, motored to Bethabara for church Sunday. t Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Williams and children, and Mrs. T. J. Miss Ola Daniel of Athens, is visiting Mrs. J. C. Daniel. Miss Modelle Hale is visiting her grand-mother, Mrs. Lowe, of Good Hope. A delightful event of the past week to the children was the birth day party given by Master James Crome, on Friday afternoon. Mr. Dan Bishop, of Athens, was in town Sunday aftemoon. Mrs. Choice Cooper, of Bogart, was the gutst of her mother, Mrs. Georgia McDonald Thursday and friday. Lankford and daught er accompanied his mother to Crawford last Saturday and spent a'few days in her home. Mr. William Thompson, who has been with the 83rd Division Engineers in France, returned to Camp Gordon last week and is now at home well and happy. All the boys from this immediate sec tion are back and a welcome ser vice will be held for them next Fri day morning at the .Methodist church.
