Social and Personal News Mrs. 0 M. Jackson Hostess. On Monday afternoon Mrs. O. M. Jackson entertained at a mati ‘nee party, in honor of Mrs. D. M. Mincher, of Baxley, the guest of Mrs. H. E. Millikin, and Mrs. R. W. Wallace, of Valdosta, the guest of Mrs. W. 0. Perry. After enjoy ing the pictures at the Strand, the | guests were served delightful re freshments at the city drug store. The invited guests were Mrs, Wal lace. Mrs. Mincher, Millikin, Perry Jacobs, and J. L. Jackson. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Bradley En tertain. On Friday evening, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Bradley entertained a few of their friends, in honor of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Wallace, of Valdosta. The living room, dining room and library were thrown to gether and covers were laid on the beautifully appointed dining table for twelve guests. Those enjoying Mr. and Mrs. Bradley s gracious hospitality were: Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Wallace, of Valdosta, Mr. and Mrs. W. 0. Perry, Mr. and Mrs. H. K. Millikin, Dr. and Mrs. E. F. Saxon, Mrs. Alice Dunn, Mrs. Mincher, of Baxley, Rev. R. ft. Moss. Mrs. J. L. Jackson Hostess. On Thursday evening, Mrs. J. L. Jackson, assisted by her attractive daughter, Marguerite, entertained at a six o’clock dinner Tor , Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Wallace, of Valdosta. Covers were laid for twelve. Those enjoying this happy evening together were: Mr. amt Mrs. R. W. Wallace, Dr. and Mrs. S. T. Ros-, Mr. and Mrs. 11. E. Mil likin, Mrs. Meacher, of Baxley, Miss Lucy Turpin and Mr. Jack Millikin. PICNIC AT PARK. Last Friday evening a picnic was given at the Park in honor of Misses Harris, of Commerce, and Ola Porter, of Jefferson, guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Baird. Quite a number of young people enjoyed this outing. After the pic nic, the party were chaperoned to the Strand, by Mr. and Mrs. Baird, where the remainder of the evening was spent. Mrs. W. A. Brooks spent the past week-end in Atlanta with Mrs Robinson. She was accompanied home Monday by her sister, Miss Fannie Slocum, of Edwards, Miss., who will be her guest lor some .time. r Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Parham and Miss Gertrude Parham, of Athens, spent Sunday in the city, the guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. !>• Par ham. Mr. Foster Hardigree is improv ing from liis recent illness. Messrs. Fritz and Cupid Potts spent several days last week with a party on a camping trip in the mountains of North Georgia. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Smith spent Friday in Jefferson. Mrs. J. J. Wilson and Mrs. Gro ver Moseley and Miss Kathleen Wilson spent Friday in Atlanta. Miss Marie llet-rip spent Friday in Atlanta. Dr. and Mrs. W. L. DcLaPer riere spent Tuesday in Atlanta. Dr. A. W. Martin was in Atlan ta Tuesday. . < ICE CREAJd FESTIVAL AT BETHLEHEM. Next Wednesday evening at 8:30 fast time the Domestic Science Class of Bethlehem, will have an ice festival. An interesting [program has been arranged. Games will be played and a good liw i-n general for every one who attends. We are indebted to Dr. R. P. Adams for four of. the finest egg plants we have seen in a long time. This is a great food plant and when properly prepared, makes one of the best dishes one can ask for. Mrs. G. A. Johns spent Wednes day in Atlanta. Mrs. Emory S. Hams spent Tuesday and Wednesday in Win der attending the Barrow County Sunday School Association. Mrs. Harris is one of the most loyal church workers in Barrow County. Mrs. I*. A. Flanigan has return ed from a two weeks’ stay in Waynesville, N. C., Mr. W. A. Bradley of the Y. M. C. A., was at home this week for a couple of days. Mr. and Mrs. C. 0. Niblack will return this week from the East,, where they have spent two weeks on their wedding trip. Mr. Ira Ethridge and son, of near Jefferson, was in Winder Monday. Mr. A. D. Harris, of Commerce, was here on business Tuesday. Mrs. Jamie Robertson, of Dal las, Tex., is spending several weeks with her brother, Mr. A. F. Roberts, and other relatives. Dr. and Mrs. S. T. Ross, Dr. and Mrs. L. W. Hodges, left Tuesday for Ashville, N. C., where they will he for several days. Miss .Mattie Harris, who has been the guest of Mr. and Mrs. [John Baird, has returned to her home a 1 Commerce. C., Mr. Page (Gregory has returned from Ashville, N. 0., where he spent a week shooting lizzards and grasshoppers, with • his air rifle. Page says after a week spent of that kind, he is a crack shot. Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Matthews left last week for a seeral days tour through North Carolina. Mr. Elliot Durham of Mulberry, was a isitor in the city Tuesday. Miss Minnie Neal Elbam. of Greenville, S. C., is the guest this week of Mrs. J. H. Maynard. Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Walden and two daughters, leave this week for Birmingham, where they will he with relatives and friends for a few weeks. Mr. and Ms. Grady Whitehead and baby of Greenville, S. C., and Mrs. W. T. Miss Willie Mae Eavenson is on an extended visit to her sister, M rs. H. N. Mann, of Savannah, Ga. Mr. nod Mrs. J. M. Roberts and two children, are enjoying a de lightful Gamp at Reeves Mill. This is a very beautiful- spot on which to spend several weeks during the hot'summer months. Mrs. J. M. Jackson is spending several weeks in the mountains, near Blue Ridge. Ga. Mrs. G. A. Johns, Misses Mary Louise and Sunie spent several days in Atlanta last week. Mr. and tyrs. R. J. Smith and children, spent last week in Jeffer son, Athens and Oconee. Mr. Clyde Williamson spent Sunday in Atlanta. BETHLEHEM. Mr. and Mrs. Preston White, of Atlanta, are with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Yearwood this week. Mr. and Mrs. Greene Smith spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Perry. Misses Ettie Belle and Myrtice Harrison entertained three attrac tive young ladies. Misses Susie Belle Perkins. Helen Arnold, of Statham, Miss Estelle Jennings, of Powder Springs, for a few days recently. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Leslie and sons, have returned from a pleas ant visit to South Georgia, they were accompanied home by Mrs. Mazelle Arelatine. Mrs. Sandy Harrell spent last week in Atlanta. Sims and son, William, are on a business trip to Katonton. Lightening killed two fine hogs for Mr. Weymon Ridgeway last Friday. A fine baby girl came to make her home with Mr. and Mrs. John Thompson last Friday. The little lady bears 1 lie name of Lucy Gar rett, for her maternal grand moth er. A happy occasion was that of the annual barbecue for the Hol loway family and many friends, at the home of Mr. Maynard llol loway last Wednesday. (’amp, and M>n, of Campton, were here Monday. Mr. Julius Adams has returned to Atlanta. Miss Lena Hill is visiting in Winder this week. She went up for t-heJSunday School Convention. Special Services will he held at the Baptist Church, beginning Friday evening, continuing thru Sunday. Members are urged to he present, and all are cordially in vited to attend these services. Sunbeams will render their reg ular program Sunday afternoon at four o’clock. TENT THEATRE ATTRACTS LARGE AUDIENCES The Kadell-Kritclifield Com pany lias been enjoying excellent business this week a1 their large tent theatre where some splendid plays have been presented by a most excellent company. A num ber of very entertaining special ties are being offered between the acts. On the whole this is one of the best tent attractions that has ever visited Winder. The manage ment is calling special attention to their feature play which will be presented Friday night, entitled “The Natural Law.” said to lie one of the greatest sex-problem plays ever offered the public.
