WINDER, GEORGIA Social and Personal News Young Matron’s Federated Club Entertains. On last Thursday afternoon, the members of the Young Matron’s Federated Club entertained at a picnic and chicken stew, in honor of their husbands and Mr. and Mrs. C. 0. Niblack. on the beauti ful lawn of Mr. and Mrs. \Y. L. This was one of the most enjoyable affairs of the season. Af ter enjoying music and old fash ion games, a delightful supper was served. Those present on this occasion were: Mr. and Mrs. C. 0. Niblack, Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. O. B. Mrs. Mac Potts Hostess. On Tuesday afternoon, Mrs. Mite Potts gave a beautiful party in honor of her sister, Mrs. Ned .Furlow, of Cleveland, Ohio. The liouse was beautifully decorated in ferns, golden glow and mari golds. Mesdames W. L. Jackson served punch in the dining room. On the table where the games were played wereeompotes filled with yellow mints. And the color scene of yellow and green was carried out in every detail. A dainty little sachet hag was given each guest and music was enjoyed during the afternoon. Many inter esting games of 500. A delightful salad course was served. On Wednesday afternoon, Miss Mary Lamar Jackson gave a mat inee party to a number of her lit tle friends. They met at the home of Miss Jackson and she assisted hv her mother, served dainty re freshments and after enjoying the picture at the Strand Theatre, ices were enjoyed at the City Drug Store. Mrs. Blasingame and Kimball en tertain. Mrs. W. L. BLa sin game ami Mis. R. 11. Kimball enlertained at a dinner last Thursday, in honor of Mrs. Walker and Mrs. Cooper. ('overs were laid for twelve. Mrs. Grover Moseley Entertains. Mrs. Grover Moseley entertain ed at a Theatre Party last Wed nesday evening in honor of Mrs. .Walker. Those enjoying Mr. and Mrs. Moseiey's ho-pitality were: Mr. and Mrs Ralph Smith, Mr. and Mrs. F. D. Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Jackson and Mes dames Walker : nd Cooper. Booklovers Club. One of the most enjoyable af fairs of the summer was the meet ing of the Booklovers Club Friday night at the home of Col. Lewis and Miss Mary Russell on Millege Ave. Athens, Ga. The guests formed a congenial motoring party and after an hours drive, reached the attractive home of the hostess. The Russell home, noted for its hospitality, thrown open and dec orated with cut glass vases and baskets of flowers, seemed to give a welcomed atmosphere to the friends who enjoyed the occasion. Miss Mary and Col. Russell re ceived on the porch. Miss Harriett Russell and Miss Lester, received in the living room Grape juice witli wallers was served just before the club was called to order by the President. After the business meeting of the club a most enjoyable program was given by the young men mem bers: Col. Pratt, Preston Wil liams, Sidney Maughon and Carl Brooksher, who have returned from service. Avery interesting talk given by Mr. McCamie, from Correnth, W. Ya., who is just from overseas added much to the programe. After talks by Mr. Holsenbeck and Willie Hill Hoseh the guests were invited into the dining room and living room, where a delight ful ice course was served. Those present were: Misses Sarah Hayes Myrtle Wallace, Annette Quillian, Mildred Thrasher, Maggie Belle Arnold, of Monroe, Harriett Rus sell and Miss Lester. Messrs. McCamie, of W. Ya., Pratt, Preston Williams, Carl Brooksher, Willie Hill Hoseh, Mr. and Mrs. Holsenbeck, Mr. and Mrs. Maughon, Mrs. Faust, Miss Mary and Col. Lewis Russell. The Young Matrons Club. Mrs. W. D. McKenney enter tained at her home on Athens st., last Thursday morning in honor of The Young Matrons Club. The color scheme of red and green was carried out in the de corations and refreshments. Mrs. B. B. Jackson and Mrs. Walter Cooper presided at the punch howl, which was placed in the reception hall. After several exciting games of Bunco, Mrs. McKenney assisted by Mrs. Rankin, served a delicious luncheon. Besides the club members Mrs. McKenney bad as her guests Mes dames C. 0. Niblack, Aiken, Wal ker, of Fortworth, Texas, Mrs. Reid and her sister, Mrs. Pound, of Atlanta. Party for Mrs. Walker. Mrs. E. V. Snipes was the charming hostess at a party last Friday morning in honor of Mrs. Walker, who was the popular guest for the past week, of Mrs. Ralph Smith and other relatives here. Maregolds were used effectively a* decorations throughout Mrs. Snipes attractive apartment. After several interesting games of Five Hundred and Bunco, a de lightful luncheon was served. Carithers Jr., Oscar Mcßae, Fortson. Walter Cooper, of Atlanta, and Mrs. Wal ker, of Texas, and Miss Elizabeth Kimball. Mrs. R. M. Rankin Entertains. Mrs. R. M. Rankin entertained in honor of Mrs. Walker and Mrs. Cooper last Saturday morning at her home on Athens Street. The guests were delightfully en tertained on the porch. The members of Mrs. Rankin’s Club were the invited guests. Mrs. Robert Camp Entertains for Mrs. Walker and Mrs. Cooper. A lovely party of last week was given by Mrs. Robert Camp at her apartment on church street, in honor of Mrs. Walker and Mrs. Cooper. Vases and baskets filled with varied colored Zenias were placed on tables, mantles and cohenets, making the rooms where the guests were entertained unusually attractive. After several interesting games of Five Hundred, a delicious salad course with iced tea was served. Besides the honor guests those present were: Mesdames R. 0. Ross, Rankin. The Young Matrons Club enter tained at a matinee party last Thursday afternoon for Mrs. Nib lack, a recent bride, Mrs. Walker, Mrs. Ralph Smith’s guest, and Mrs. Walter Cooper, a member of the dub who has recently moved to Atlanta and was the guest of Mrs. Roy Jackson for the past week. After a pleasant hour spent at The Strand, refreshments were served at the Barrow County Drug Store. About twenty four ladies were present. For Mr. and Mrs. C. 0. Niblaek. Convention of the Mulberry Association last Sunday at Talmo, in Jackson County. Mrs. Rankin had as her guests for dinner last Wednesday, Mes dames B. B. Jackson, Roy Jack son and Walter Cooper. Mr. Lewallen. who has been in business here for several years has sold out and will go to Athens to make his future home. He made many friends here who will regret to lean) of this move. Rev. and Mrs. R. W. Wallace and <■ )ii, left for theiir home in Valdosta Tuesday, after spending two week’s in Winder and two week's at White Sulphur Springs. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace have many friends in Winder who are always glad to have them visit here. Mrs. Millard Harper, of 3lon roe, N. 0., is the guest of Dr. and Mrs. C. S. Williams. Mrs. C. O. Miss Maude Allen of Athens, is spending the week with her pa rents here. Mr. Emmett Bond, of Camden, S. C., is spending a few days here with relatives. Mr. Jackson Foy, of Atlanta, is the guest of relatives and friends here for several days. Mr. W. B. Mathews left Monday for Hot Springs, for a months’ treatment. Mr. Ralph Foster spent the week-end in Atlanta. Mr. Robert Saunders, of Nor fork, Va., spent last week here with Misses Callie and Pearl Saun ders and other realtives. Mesdames (*. Pharr, Lillie Lamar and Green Graham spent Wednesday in Athens. Mrs. Martha Looney, left for her home in Atlanta Tuesday, af ter spending several weeks’ here with relatives and friends. Messrs. Barney Barron, of Gainesville, and John Landrum, of Epworth, S. ('., spent Monday with Prof. W. E. Cooper. Miss Elenor Herring, of Rome, lias returned home after spending several days with friends here.
