Social and Personal News- Wall-Maughon. Rev. J. H. Mashburn united in the holy bonds of wedlock, at the Methodist parsonage of this city last Sunday afternoon, Mrs. Alice Wall and Mr. J. W. B. Maughon. both of Auburn. Lowry-Arnold. Miss Flossie Lowry and Mr. Howard Arnold were made one by Rev. J. H. Mashburn last Sunday. The ceremony being performed at the parsonage. Mrs. W. 0. Peny Entertains the Members cf the Yeung Matrons’ Federated Club. On last Thursday afternoon, Mrs. W. 0. Perry entertained hex dub in honor o f Mrs. Ned Furlow, of Cleveland, Ohio, the guest of Mrs. Mac P°tts. The Fwer floor of this beautiful home was thrown together and was made very inviting with ferns and yellow' marigolds, green and gold being the club colors and was carried out in the decorations and in the refreshments. A busi ness meeting was called by the President for thirty minutes and officers elected for another year. After this several games of “500“ were enjoyed together with music. A delightful salad course with tea and an ice course was served. The hostess presented _the guest of honor with a beautiful yellow crepe de chine handkerchief. Mcßae Clives Lunch eon for Mrs. Ned Furlow. On last Wednesday afternoon, Mrs. 0. B. Mcßae entertained her ceusin, Mrs. Ned Furlow, of Cleveland, Ohio. On the beautiful ly appointed table, covers were laid for six, and a three course lun cheon was served and was one of the most delightful and enjoyable occasions of the week. The invited guests were: Mesdames Mac Potts Ned Furlow, W. A. Bradley, W. 0. Perry Mr. and Mrs. O. B. Mc- Rae. Mrs. Claude Mayne Entertains for Mrs. Ned Furlow of Cleveland, On Saturday afternoon Mrs. Claude Mayne gave a matinee party for Mrs. Furlow, of Cleve land, Ohio, the guest of Mrs. Mac Potts. The guests were invited to the beautiful home of Mrs. Mayne and delightful sandwiches and pnnch were served. Later they en joyed the pictures at the Strand and refreshments at the City Drug Store. Those enjoying this occasion were Masters Claude and Merrideth Mayne, Mesdames Mac Potts, Ned Furlow, R. J. Smith, Will Mayne, Clyde Wil liamson, O. Perry, H. E. Mil likin. 0. M. Jackson, J. C. Dug gan, and Miss Mary Mayne. Mrs. W. °. Perry Gives Matinee Party for Visitors. On Saturday afternoon, Mrs. W. O. Perry pave a matinee party complimenting her house guests, Misses Odessa Fuller and Dorothy Duggan of Atlanta. After seeing the pictures at the Strand refresh ments were enjoyed at the City Drug Store. Those invited were: Misses Frances Brooks, Louise House, Gladys Harris, Mary Louise Johns, Reunette Woodruff, Marguerite Jackson, Kathleen Wilson, •Dorothy Duggan and Odessa Fuller of Atlanta. Ladies Aid Society Met Tuesday, The Ladies Aid Society held a very enthusiastic meeting in the youg men’s class room on Tues day afternoon. This being tlie first meeting of the fall. The mem bers were very much interested in some or all plans which were sug gested by different members of the Society. The pastor, together with the members of the Society are planning a Church reception in a short time. Mrs. H. E. Millikin acted as Pres, in the absence of Mrs. Levia Hodges, and Mrs. W. O. Perry acted as Secty. in the absence of Mrs W. A. Bradley. Young Ladies Sewing Club Meets With Misses Ora Lee and Pauline Camp. On Monday afternoon, the 5 oung Ladies Sewing Club was entertained in a most enjoyable manner by two charming hostess es Misses Ora Lee and Pauline Camp. 'The afternoon was spent in cro cheting, embroidering and tatting and some were making dainty ar ticles for home chests. Music add ed much to the pleasure of the af ternoon and later a delightful sa lad course was served Those pre sent were the members of the club and a few other friends: Misses Mary Alice and Louise Strange. Griffeth, 11. T. Flanigan, W T . L. Mathews, Bob Camp, and B. A. Julian, of Athens. Mrs. W. J. Herrin visited her uncle, Mr. W. J. Whitehead, of Gainesville, last Sunday. Mr. Whitehead lias been paralyzed for more than three years and can only walk a little with crutches. He keeps cheerful and attends church every Sunday. He is now past 86 years of age and has a wonderful vitality for one as old as he. Mr. Whitehead is a native of Jackson County and lived in Winder for a number of years be fore going to Gainesville. Mrs. W. H. Stanton and Misses Mellie and Lillie Mae Stanton, of Social Circle. were the Sunday, guests of Dr. and Mrs. W. L. De- La Perri ere. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Summerour and Misses Montine Robinson and Marie Herrin spent Tuesday in Atlanta. Messrs. Harold Herrin and Allen Carrington were Atlanta visitors Tuesday. Mrs. B. A. Julian and son are spending some ime with Col. and Mrs. G. A. Johns. Miss Ora Lee < 'amp spent last Wednesday in Atlanta. Mrs. Z. F. Jackson spent .Satur day in Atlanta. Mr. and Mrs. A. A. The many friends of Mrs. J. H. Wood are sorry to hear of her ill ness of several days. Mrs. W. A. Bradley has been indisposed for several days. Misses Stella and Winnie Perry spent several days of lest week in Statham, the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Perry. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Perry of Statham, were visitors in the city Sunday Misses Ollie and Manervia Sims and Miss W'innie Perry spent last Saturday very pleasant ly in Gainesville. Messrs John H. Hill and L. B. Hamilton, of Mantezuma. were visitors to Winder last Sunday. Dr. E. F. Saxon spent Monday in Atlanta. Dr. Sikes, of Statham, was here last Monday. Mr. Claud Mayne was a visitor to Atlanta yesterday. Mr. \V. O. Perry reached home last Friday from Chicago and al so a few days spent in Wisconsin. Mr. Ralph Sharpton lias return ed to New Smyrna, Florida, after a week’s visit here. Dr. and Mrs. J. T. Wages and' son John T. Jr., of Macon, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Flanigan. Mrs. Emmett Bond and children have returned home after several weeks’ visit with the former’s pa rents, Mr. and Mrs. Mac House. Miss Myrtle Booth spent last week-end with homefolks near Statham. Messrs. Lonnie Weldon and Russ llosch of near Commerce, were in Winder last Saturday. Mr. Willie llosch, formerly of Winder, but now of Commerce, is now with the Bell Overall Cos. for the fall season. Messrs. Albert and Walter lien ton are at Pelham, Ga. attending a house party this week. They spent last week at Tifton attend ing a house party there and re port a grand time at both places.
