Mr. Cwinn is a fine hardware man of years experience, lias a family and will be a valuable ad dition to our city. Winder regrets very much to give up Pike Hutchins as he is a young man of fine moral and busi ness qualities, but from our Sta tliam correspondent it will be seen he is to make his future home in that live and progressive town. The Times wishes for him the success he so richly deserves in };is business venture. Just received fresh lot of Inner Tubes Prices Right. Lee .1 Oliver Mr. Ambrose Jackson is spend ing a few days with friends in "Milledgeville. Mr. J. T. Treadwell of Stathain. was in Winder Tuesday. STATHAM CONTINUES TO GROW, ONE MORE CITIZEN AND ONE MORE GOOD BUSI NESS FOR STATHAM. Anew hardware store in the near future. Mr. Harrison has succeeded in getting associated with him Mr. P. L. Hutchins of Winder. Ha., for a number of years leading clerk in the Wood ruff Hardware Company, and one of t he most progressive young men of Winder Mr. Hutchins is not only a good citizen hut an excel lent hardware man, and numbers his friends by his acquaintances. Everybody in and around Stath am knows and likes Pike Hutch ins, and of course everyone in and around Statham knows Mr. Harri son. so it goes without saying that the new Hardware store will he a success. I am informed that capital stock has been arranged and same paid in. In talking with these gentle men. they say it is not their ambi tion or purpose to he in competi tion to anyone now in business in Statham, hut to handle to a great extent, a class of goods not car ried by Statham Merchants, there by supplying the missing business link of Statham, believing that an up-to-date hardware store will cause more people to come to Sta tham and being enabled to obtain their hardware supplies here, tLev v ill not go to other towns. This will mean more business for every merchant in our city. This new firm will he a purely Statlmm business, run by Mr. Hutchins of Statham, and Air. Harrison who is already a citizen, and separate to all other business. Mr. R. L. Woodruff, of the Wood ruff Hardware Cos., will own some stock in this new firm, placing the two firms on a friendly basis and connecting the interest, which will give each an advantage in buying, as the larger the con- tracts and the larger (plantitiesin which goods are bought, the bet ter the prices that can be obtain ed. When Mr. Woodruff was ask ed if be had anything to say re garding the new firm, lie smiled and said “nothing at present, ex cept lie maxi confess that some times he feels a little jealous, knowing Mr Hutchins' ability as a hardware man. and Mr. Harri son's disposition to make friends lie feels that it will be some com petition for bis Winder business and that lie liad far rather have Mr. Hutchins a little further off il he wanted to look at it from a selfish standpoint, but believed Mr. Hutchins capable of holding down the manager's job and mak ing good, and further, realizing that Statham is tlie largest town in Georgia with a Hardware store, caused him to decide rather than to try to keep Mr. Hutchins in Winder, that he would furnish some money for bis business and thereby lie able to continue to share a dividend from his services, and you ill ay say for me he con tinued : “That Mr. Hutchins is a good mail in every w ay you take him. and I do not believe in hold- mg a man down but rather help him up and believing a chain of stores being a help to each other has caused me to arrange to help these two splendid young men. Mr. Hutchins has worked for me a long time and I had rather sec any other man leave my Win der interests than he. hut am look ing forward to a good business that will he worth a great deal to Statham, and in future days if we all live I will pass through Statham or some other good town and will see a business man of means and influence that 1 will be proud of, and the community be nefited. Mr. Harrison has his friends, and his good sound busi ness judgement, will make success more certain in the new Statham store. Mr. Hutchins will be a good citizen, and all good citizens are an asset to a town or community and he is too broad and fair-mind ed to try to steer a business in any way except the high type route.” THE BARROW TIMES.
