Social and Personal News Mr. and Mrs. S. F. Pirkle Give Reception. An elegant reception was given on Friday evening by Mr and Mrs. S. F. I’irkle at their beautiful home on Church Street, honoring their son and his bride, Mr. and Mrs. Robert I’irkle. The lower floor was made very inviting with Q.itumn decorations, suggestive of the prettiest season of the year. Punch was served on the front porch by a bevy of pretty young ladies dressed in beautiful (‘veil ing gowns. The receiving line was (•(imposed of Mr. and Mrs. S. F. Pirkle, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Fic kle, Mr and Mrs. Fd Bcdingfield and Miss Bertie Pirkle. Those assisting in the receiving and serv ing were: Mr. and Mrs. AY. T. Robinson. Mesdanics Sidney Man glum. J. I*. Williams, Reid, Sum inerour, J. W. (Jriffeth. Radford and Misses Thelma Woodruff, Inez Cooper, Mary Alice and Louise Strange. Some seventy-five friends called during the evening. Miscellaneous Shower. A social event of the past week was a miscellaneous shower given for Mrs. Robert Pirkle by Miss Marguerite Jackson and her mo ther. Mrs. •!. L. .Jackson, The home was prettily decorat ed in yellow cut flowers, the lights were shaded in giving a soft autumn glow throughout, the home. Quite an unique eon test, “A Pointed Romance,” was thoroughly enjoyed during the /'Afternoon. The shower was ar ranged unknown to the honoree, and upon a signal given by Miss .Jackson, a little express wagon, decorated in white and yellow, wij.h yellow cupid holding the reins, was drawn in by little Wal ter Smith. Jr., who was attired in white suit with yellow tie. The wa- gon which was over flowing with many beautiful gifts was unload ed into the brirde’s lay by little Walter. Mrs. Pirkle was becoming ly gowned in black eharmense, embroidered in silver, with bat to match. A delicious salad course with iced tea was served. Miss Jackson and her mother were as sisten in entertaining by Mrs. Otis Jackson and Mrs. Harry Millikin. Those enjoying the occasion were: Mesdames Robert Howard Rogers, Fleming Thompson. Paul Autry, and. W. Griffeth, Ed Bedingfleld, Geo. Thompson. R. H Kimball, H. T. Flanigan, W* L. Blasingame, W. D. McKinney, Otis Jackson, Harry Millikin. and. L. Jackson* Misses Bert Pirkle, Orace Jack son, Annette Quillian, Inez Cooper Thelma Woodruff, Flossie Henson, Mary Alice and Louise Strange, Ora Lee and Pauline Camp, Esth \/ Henson, and Marguerite Jack son. Reception Given by Mrs. Paul Autry. A beautiful reception was given on Tuesday afternoon by Mrs. Paul Autry, at her home on Can dler Street, in honor of Mrs. Robt. pjrkle. a recent bride. The hall, parlor and dining room were beau tifully decorated with ferns and pink carnations. Punchh was served in the parlor by Misses Mary Alice Strange, Bert Pirkle and The**— Woodruff, and Misses Louise Strange and Inez Cooper played the Viet cola during the afternoon. In the re ceiving line were Mesdames Paul Autry. Robert Pirkle and George Turpin. Others assisting Mrs. .Au try were: Mesdames. and. W Griff *tli. m\. -Johns. -J. B. Fitts. Bed ingfteld .S. T. Ross. Reed Foster Hardigree and Ed Herrin. This was one of the many lovely social occasions given for the bride. Miss Marguerite Jackson, a stu jlant at Lucy Cobh Institute, spent TTfc week-end with her rmother, Mrs. J. L. Jackson. | Federated Club Meeting. The Young Matron's Federated ('lub held their regular monthly business meeting Monday after noon at 3:30 o’clock at the home of Mrs. (i'eo. A. Johns. Proceeding the business session two splendid papers were read on educational work. It was the pleasure of this club to make a donation to the Agnes Scott College Campaign. The years work of this band of women has been very satisfactory to the President of this division of the V State work. One hundred and twenty nine dollars and sixty three cents has been given to Civ ic improvement and Tallulah Falls School. A circulating Library was or ganized in the month of October, twenty books were given at this meeting. A committee was ap pointed to buy a set of Histories tor a study course to lx* taken up dining Ihe \\inter months. A motion was made by Mrs. ■Mac Potts and unanimously car ried by the club to send Mrs. J. A. Johns and Mrs. J. W. L. dackson entertained at Young Matron’s Federated Club at her home on Athens, Street. Hal loween decorations were used in the living room where the tables wer arranged for “500” and after many interesting games a deli rious hot course luncheon was served. Members of the Young Ladies Club were guests of Misses Mary Alice and Louise Strange on Sat urday morning at a miscellaneous shower in honor of Mrs. Robert Pirkle. a recent bride. The home was attractively decorated in pink and lavendar cosmos, roses, pot plants and pink shaded tapers. After several exciting games of “Bunco” Cupids express, a lovely pink wagon containing a pink and lavendar basket tilled with gifts arrived drawi/by little Miss Dean Nowdl. cunningly dressed in pink organdie and ribbons, who pre sented the gifts to the bride. After Ihe many beautiful and useful gifts had been admired by the guests, luncheon was served, was served. Misses Strange were assisted in receiving and entertaining by Misses Pauline Camp and Inez Cooper, all wearing pink and lav endar dresses carrying out the col or scheme. Ladies Aid Society. The Ladies Aid Society of the Christian Church held their regu larly monthly meeting in the Church parlors on Tuesday after noon with a large enthusiastic at tendance. The final plafis for the Bazarr were perfected at this time which is to be given in the base ment of the Church on Dec. 11th. M and Mrs ( barley Jackson and son, (>.
