Social and Personal News CALENDAR OF WEEK. . Monday Dec. 15.—Miss Alice King and Mrs. T. M. Foster will entertain the Missionary Society (( f the Presbyterian Church ut 5:30 o’clock at their home on Center Street. The M E. Harlan Division of Ihe Missionary Society of the Christian Church will meet with Mrs. Herbert Smith at 3:30 o’clock at her home on Broad Street. Mrs. Lee Fortson and Miss Jen nie Smith will give a Matinee par ty in honor of Mrs. Mark Sims, a recent bride. The Methodist Missionary So ciety will be entertained by Mrs. A. S. Eberhart at 3:30 o ’clock at her borne on Hamilton Ave. The Church Street Circle of the Baptist Missionary Society met with Mrs. K. I*. Carpenter at 3:30 o’clock. Mrs. John Williams will be hos tess to the Candler Street Circle at 3:30 o’clock. The Center Street Circle will be entertained by Mrs. W. T. Apple by. Tuesday Dee. 16.—Miss Annette Quillian will entertain the Young Ladies Priscilla Club at her home on Church Street. Mrs. W. A. Bradley, Mi's. J. T. Walden and Mrs. E. P. Niblack will be hostess at a large reception in honor of Mrs. Buy Kilgore, a recent bride. Mrs. If. T. Flanigan will enter tain a few of her friends at her home on Candler Street. Thursday Dec. 18.—Mrs. John Hargrove will entertain the Young Matron’s Federated Club with a Matinee party at 3:00 o’clock.. Friday Dee. 19.—A special Christmas program will be given at the school auditorium by Miss Charlotte McCants. Matinee Party Complimenting Mrs. Mark Sims. Mrs. Lee Fortson and Miss Jen nie Smith were joint hostess at a Matinee Party on Monday afler noon for Mrs. Mark Sims, a recent bride. After enjoying a splendid picture at the Strand, delightful sandwiches, hot chocolate and candy was enjoyed. Mrs. Gresham was one of Win der’s popular and charming yoimg ladies a- -1 a daughter of Mr. J. W. Slie;ts. Dr. O’esham waa originally from Jkmna Vista, Ga., but is now one of the prominent druggist of Atlanta. Mrs. Oglesby and Miss Kate Leu O. leshy will leave Friday for Elberton, to spend some time. Miss Christine Clayton expects to spend the holidays in South Carolina, with her parents. Woodruff-Estes. A wedding of much interest to a large circle of friends was that of Miss Thelma Woodruff and Mr. Joseph Lawton Estes, of Atlanta, at the home of the brides parents on Thursday evening at K :30 o’clock. The handsome home of the brides was beautifully decorat ed with ferns, palms and white chrysanthenms. The wedding march was played by a college mate of Miss Wood ruff’s, Miss Parks, of Cruwfords ville. Mrs. J. W. Oriffeth sang. Miss Reunette Woodruff, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. On ly the immediate families of the contracting parties and a few in timate friends witnessing the ce remony. Mr. and Mrs. Estes left for a weddiftg trip through Flo rida. Miss Woodruff was one of - " Wi nder’s most attractive and talented young ladies. She graduated with honors from Shorter College, and her father, Mr. G. W. Woodruff, is one of the leading citizens of our citj’. The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. Estes regret they will not remain in Winder, but will make Atlanta their future home. Mr. nd Mrs. W. J. Herrin Enter tain. One of the largest and most en joyable affairs of the season was the reception given by Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Herrin, at their beauti ful home on Midland Ave., for their son and his bride, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Herrin. The parlor, living room and dining room were thrown together and made a beau tiful picture decorated through out in palms, ferns and pink car nations. In the receiving line were Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Herrin, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Herrin, Mrs. Stinch ennih. of Penderarass, momer of the bride, Mr. Stineheomb, broth er of the bride, Mr. Ralph Herrin, and Misses Marie and Imogene Herrin. Those assisting in receiv ng and serving were: Mr. and Mrs. W| C. Horton, Mr. and Mrs. John Carrington, Mrs Reba Von lerleith, Mrs. S. T. Ross, Mrs. Oscar Summerour and Misses Es ther Henson, Annette Quillian, Charlotte McCants, Mabel Jack son, Sara Frances Segars and Rita King. Two hundred friends called from eight until eleven o’clock. To Mrs. Guy Henry Kilgore. One of the largest and most beautiful social events of the past week, was the afternoon reception at which Misses Ida and A Hone Kilgore were sost esses on Friday, at their home on Stephens Street, introducing their sister, Mrs. Guy Kilgore, a recent charming bride, to a number of friends, who called fiom 4to 6 o’clock. The parlor, living room and dining room were beautifully decorated in ivy, ferns and pink carnations. The receiv ing line composed the bride and Misses Ida and Allene Kilgore. Mrs. C. O. Niblack and Mrs. W. O. Perry received the guests at the door. Misses Sadie Harris and Mabel Jackson served punch. Oth ers assisting were: Mrs. J. P. Wil liams, Mrs. G. C. Kimball, a grooms man, Miss Ida Kilgore a brides maid, Mrs. B. B. Jackson, an unusually handsome grooms man, and Mrs. Reid, the dignified minister. Moss and Mr. ('laud Mayne are attending the Interchurch World Conference in Atlanta this week. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Brooksher and Mrs. Herbert Smith spent Monay in Atlanta. Mr. an Mrs. O. B. Mrs. Nellie Carithers and Miss Mary Mendenhall, of Atlanta, spent several days in Winder this week. Misses Frances Brooks and Kathleen Wilson are expected home from Shorter College this week to spend the Christmas holi days with their parents. Messrs. Fritz and W. C. Potts spent Tuesday in Atlanta. Miss Lurline Collier, of Jeffer son, was in Winder last Saturday. Mrs. Vallie Arnold and Miss Maggie Belle Arnold of Hoschton, spent part of this week in Winder, coming over to see Mrs. Arnold who has been confined to her bed for several weeks.
