PREACHERS MEET AT
BOGART.
The regular monthly session of
the \pjtalaehee Pastors Confer
ence met at Bogart Baptist elmreli
Wednesday of last week at 10:00
o’clock in one of the best sessions
ever held by the body.
The meeting was largely at
tended hv the preachers from Win
dev, M < niroe, Athens. Atlanta and
contiguous territory, and represen
tation came front all the ehuurehes
of the association.
Rev. K. 11. Jennings, of Athens,
discussed in a very helpful and in
teresting way the “Building of
Sermons,” l)r. I). W. Key spoke
in his usually vivacious and attrac
five wav. on “The Ideal Evange
list.”
I)r. B. S. Bailey, of Atlanta.
Superintendent of the Baptist Mis
sion Board, preached the eleven
o'clock sermon on Evengelism, it
was a powerful presentation of
the needs of the state for an old
fashioned soul stiring campaign.
After a bountiful dinner served
by the good ladies of Bogart, the
Executive Committee held an inter
esting session and planned for an
extensive and pretentious cam
paign on evangelism for the sum
mer.
In the afternoon Rev. "W. M.
Coilc. of Winterville, spoke on
“The Preacher and Teacher,” Rev
W. S. Walker, made a wonderful
appropriate talk on “Funerals,”
pointing out the hurtful tenden
cies oT the present day in the ex
pensiveness of, and ostentation in
♦he services for our dead. It was
unanimous consensus of opinion,
that the funerals were becoming
too long, too much show, too long
sermons, too much adulation and
praise in many instances, and too
great a contrast in others and that
mourning and harrowing scenes
in the church be dispensed with it
possible.
The next session goes to Wat
kinsville on the First Wednesday
in May.
