* On the evening of April 10th,
at the home of Judge N. 1). -Mead
ow, occurred the wedding of Miss
Estelle Cagle and Mr. Fred Fagan.
In the presence of a few friends
Judge Meadow performed the cer
emony in his usual short and ap
propriate way; after which Miss
Marion Meadow played and sang
sweetly, "I’m Forever Thinking
of You.”
The bride looked very attractive
and sweet in her wedding gown
of satin and georgette, which were
combined very artistically.
Mr. and Mrs. Fagan are two of
Winder’s popular young people
who have the best w ishes of many
friends.

Miss Ruby Ann Cronic, of Hosch
ton, and Mr. James Fred Arnold,
of St at ham, were united in mar
riage last Monday afternoon by
Rev. J. W. Brinsticid, of Bethle
hem.
These young people left immedi
ately for Atlanta and other points
and on their return will hi* at
home in Stathain.
Teachers Club Enlivening
Social Activities.
Mrs. Sidney Maugon contribut
ed to the week’s social calendar
with a pretty party at the home
of Mrs. W. VI. Holsenbeck on Sat
urday afternoon.
The interior beauty of the
rooms thrown en suite for the pret
ty party was enhanced by an at
tractive 'arrangement of spring
(lowers.
After all the invited guests had
assembled, the hostess ordered the
needle work put aside and an
nounced that contests would he

noon’s entertainment, which prov

Mrs. Maughon was assisted in
entertaining by Mrs. Holsenbeck.

the Teacher’s Sewing Club is

Pauline Roberts
Entertains.
On last Thursday Mrs. Pauline
Roberts entertained a number of
her friends at her lovely bungalow
on Center street with “500” party
in honor,of her sister, Mrs. Bailey,
who has recently come to Winder
form Fayetteville to make her
home. The living room, parlor
and dining room were beautiful
ly decorated in purple and green.
The score cards showed a unique
and artistic touch oi‘ the hostess.
Mrs. Guy Jackson furnished music j
on the piano during the afternoon.
After many exciting anti interest
ing games, a lovely salad course
with ice-tea was served. The hos
tess was assisted in enteitaining
by her sister, Mrs. \V. t . Horton,
Mrs. Clyde Williamson and two
charming little daughters. Sara
Joe and Pauline.
Birthday Party.
One of the pretiest and most
enjoyable parties tor some time,
was the one last week given by
little Miss Mary Lee Oliver, to for
ty of her friends at the home of
her parents, on Wright street, cel
ebrating hei‘ sixth birthday.
The home lovely with its deco
rations of pink and white. On the
dinning table a large white cake
-with six pink candles was placed
'-nor the guests to cut. Little Miss
Doris Nowell cut the dime.
All kinds of children’s games
Avere enjoyed and proved to be a
very happy occasion.

Entertained.
Mrs. Vella Mae Smith and Miss
Berta Meadow entertained the
Harlan Division of the Missionary
Society on Monday afternoon at
their home on Broad street, with
sixteen present. After an hour of
business, the hostesses served a
delightful salad course.
The next meeting will he with
Mrs Clyde Williamson, at her
home on Center street, on Mon
day afternoon, May 3rd.

es Division of the Missionary So
ciety on .Monday afternoon with
a large and enthusiastic attend
ance. A delightful program was
enjoyed, then the hostesses served

Young Matrons’ Federated Club
at a matinee party. A splendid
picture was enjoyed at the Strand,

went an operation for appendici
tis at St. Mary’s hospital in Ath
