JEFF DAVIS COUNTY IS
SAID TO CONTAIN OIL
Sandersville, Ga., July s.—The
Middle Georgia Oil and Gas com
pany, which is now drilling near
icre, have extended their Held of
operations to Jeff Davis county,
where they will begin drilling in a
short time. The machinery was
shipped about fifteen days ago and
will be erected under the supervis
ion of the company’s field mana
ger, A. J. Ross.
Many citizens of Jeff Davis conn
ty have helieved that oil was to he
had in their county in commercial
quantities. A well was drilled
there in IPOS, out ot which o 0
gallons of crude oil was taken. It
was thought that it was improper
ly shot, and the easing so collaps
ed that it could not be reopened.
Promoters did not go further for
the lack of funds.
