CARNIVAL DOES A BIG
BUSINESS FOR THE LEGION
Score of Clean Snappy Shows Ad

local post of the American Legion
is offering at South Side park this
Week as a benefit for the service
(men’s building fund, is proving a
hit and is playing to more people
than usually patronize attractions
of this kind in the local neighbor
hood. Record business has been
done every night this week with
the exception of Tuesday when a
wind and rainstorm not only made
exhibition impossible but came
near wrecking the outfit. If the
weather is favorable tonight and
tomorrow the veterans will enjoy
a very substantial increase to their
treasury.

least. Not only Fairmonters but
folks from the regions several
miles away were present in large
numbers. The streets surround
ing the park were completely till
ed with automobiles: Fairmont av
enue seemed filled with folks walk
ing to and from the grounds while
extra cars provided by the traction
company were jammed all even
ing.
There is a lot of entertainment—
a lot of fun—to be gotten from a
visit to the grounds. There are sev
eral high-class attractions. —Fair-

the North Ga. Fair at Winder, Ga.

MR. FAUST AT OCONEE.
Rev. W. 11. Faust, pastor of the
rFirst Baptist church, begins a
meeting at Oconee church in Jack-
son county Saturday at 11 A. M.
The son<i service v"l be in charge
of Mr. T. A. Iletvy. who was for
a number of years chorus director
of the Tabernacle at Athens.
This is one of the big county
churches of Jackson and large
crowds always attend.

EXAMINATION NOTICE.
The 1920 Teachers Examination
will be held on July 30-31. White
teachers at the Winder school
building, colored teachers at the
court bouse. The examination will
begin promptly at 9 o’clock. Those
taking the examination are requir
ed to be on band at the beginning.
Examination tablets can be pur
chased at the examination rooms.
Teachers who live in other coun
ties will have their papers sent to
their County School Superinten
