MISS SARA JOE ROBERTS
ENTERTAINS HOUSE PARTY.
Miss Sara Joe Roberts was hos
tess at a most enjoyable house
party the past week end, the guests
being Miss Lillian W ills and Miss
Mary Ruth Wills of Jefferson,
On Friday evening the young
hostess entertained a number of
friends at a bunco party. Punch
was served by Misses Hattie Eu
genia DeLaPerriere and Paulin#
Roberts, and Miss Virginia Coop
er, of Atlanta, passed the score
cards. After the games sandwich
es and tea were served. Also a
unique contest was given.
The guests present were Misses
Lillian and Mary Ruth Wills,
Gladys Eavenson, Runette Ren
ton, Imogene Hefrin, Annie Lou
Lamback, Alice Eugenia Dunn,
and Margaret Walker, and Messrs

On Saturday afternoon W. C.
Horton entertained a number of
friends at a watermelon cutting
in honor of Misses Roberts and
AVills.
Miss Gladys Eavenson entertain
ed at a dinner party on Sunday in
honor of Misses Roberts and Wills.
Mrs. W. C. Horton entertained
at a delightful dinner party on
Monday in honor of Miss Sarah
Joe Roberts and her guests. Misses
Lillian and Mary Rutli Wills of
Jefferson.
MR. AND MRS. ROBERT CAMP
ENTERTAIN FOR TECH BOYS.
Quite a delightful event of last
week was Wednesday evening
when Air. and Mrs. Robert Camp
entertained at a chicken dinner in
honor of the Tech boys on the \\ in
der baseball team.
The decorations were all white
and gold, the Tech colors. The din
ing table had for its central deco
ration a Princess basket filled with
golden glow and tied with a grace
ful how of tulle. Yellow and white
candles were also used effectively,
and a number of Tech, pannants
gave a most inviting appearance to
the rooms where these loyal Tech
boys assembled. A most delicious
course dinner was served.
Covers were laid for Messrs.
Red Barron, Bevo Webb, Essau
Settle, Cliff Pantone, Jimmie
Wheeler, Joe Guyon, George Belk,
Boh Hill, J. T. Smith and Robert

SEWING CLUB
ENTERTAINED.
A merry of last week was
Thursday afternoon when Mrs.
Ralph Smith delightfully enter
tained the Junior Priscilla Sewing
club.
A delicious salad course was ser
ved after a pleasant time spent in

of their daughter, Frances Lucile,
to Mr. Robert Oscar Ross, Jr., of
Winder, the date of the marriage
to he announced later.

One of the most delightful par
ties of t lie week was that given by'
Misses Hattie and Pearl Duunahoo
at their lovely country home on
Friday afternoon from 3 to H.
After several interesting games
a delicious ice course was served,
and then the party strolled down
to the vineyard where they spent
the remainder of the afternoon.

MEET.
The Ghurch Street Circle of the
Baplist Missionary Society met
with Mrs. K. P. Carpenter Mon
day afternoon at five o’clock.
Mrs. John Williams entertained
the Candler street circle Monday
afternoon.
The Center Street circle met on
Monday afternoon with Mrs. L. A.

The Methodist Missionary Socie
ty held a business meeting at ti t*
home of Mrs. John Carrington last
week.
The Missionary Society of the
Christian church held their regu
lar monthly meeting in the church
parlors Tuesday afternoon at five
o ’clock.
Hr. L. W. Hodges is spending
some time in Virginia.
Mrs. Ralph Smith will entertain
the Bridge club next Monday.

big farmers of Jefferson county,
was here for a short while first
of the week visiting his sons.

Airs. A. J. Durham, of Carl, will
leave soon for several weeks’ stay
al Tallulah Falls.
Air. B. H. Meadow of Ogle
thorp county is here as manager
of the Klimax Overall plant, tak
ing the place of Air. Oakes who
lias resigned to accept another
position. Mr. Aleadow is one of
the big farmers and business men
of his county and in all probabili
ty will locate here permanently.
This would he good news to his
many friends here if lie decides
to make this move.
