YOUNG MATRONS
FEDERATED CLUB.
One of the most pleasant social
events of these Season was the par
ty given Thursday afternoon by
Mrs. O. A. Johns to the members
of the Young Matrons Federated
club.
In the library and living room
where the games were played vases
of marigold and golden glow a
dorned each table which added to
the attractiveness of the already
inviting rooms.
On each table was placed a box
of Nunnally’s candy bonbons
which were enjoyed throughout
the games.
One of the pleasant features of
the afternoon was the post card
shower given to one of the absent
members, Mrs. H. T. Flanigan, who
is ill at "Wesley Memorial hospital
in Atlanta.
A short business session was held
after the games, after which a
tempting salad course with ices
was served.
The members of the club were
the only guests on this occasion.
SIX O CLOCK DINNER
FOR TECH BOYS.
Mr. June Jackson, Jr., was host
on last Wednesday evening at a
dinner party complimentary to his
fellow students of Tech.
The table was artistically deco
rated having a large basket fill
ed with yellow and white asters.
A delicious course dinner was
served. Covers were laid for Joe
Guy on, Red Barron, Bevo Webb, E
C. Settles, Pantone and June Jack
son.
Rev. J. H. Mash burn is in Elber
ton the guest of relatives before
joining friends from Thomson to
spend a few weeks in the moun
tains of Georgia and Tennessee.
Mrs Fiances Haroldson is vis
iting friends in Atlanta this week.
Mr. Paul S. Roberts left Sunday
for New York and Baltimore to
buy the fall stock of goods for the
Winder Dry Goods Store. Mr.
Roberts will be away for several
weeks.

ENTERTAINS CLUB.
Mrs. D. P. Thompson was the
charming' hostess to her Young
Matrons club last Thursday after
noon.
Quite a delightful time was spent
playing bridge, after which a deli
cious salad course was served. The
guests were Mesdames Robert A.
Camp, G. H. Portson, J. M. Aiken,
J. J. Wilson, Roy Jackson, G. C.
Moseley, Howard Rogers, Roy
Smith, 11. A. Carithers and R. TI.
Kimball.
STAG DINNER
An enjoyable affair was a stag
dinner given by Messrs Albert and
Walter Benton last Tuesday even
ing. Covers were laid for Messrs.
Henry and Elton Drake, Keith
Quarterman, Albert and Walter
Benton.
It was a very enjoyable affair
and made these young men dream
of the happy days they hoped
would soon come to all of them
when a fair bride would be the
hostess on these pleasant occa
sions and stag dinners would he a
thing of the past.
SURPRISE PARTY
Miss Mary Louise Joints was
the quests of honor at a surprise
party when a number the college
set called on her Friday evening
after the movies.
A .jolly time was spent in music
and conversation.

Wilson, Marguret Russell, Eliza
beth Kimball, Miss Wilhite. Mess
rs. Julian Ross, Keith Quarterman,
Elton Drake, Henry Drake, Albert

Mrs. Reba Vonderleith left Mon
day for a month’s visit to Murphy
N. C. and other places in the state.
Mrs. J. F. Jackson is visiting
friends in Wilmington, N. C.
Mrs. Guy Kilgore spent a few
days in Atlanta last week.
Miss Desma Elder spent Wed
nesday in Atlanta.
Mr. William Robinson of Ox
ford spent Monday in the city.
Mrs. Carl Henson and little son
have returned from Colbert.
Miss Bertha Poole has returned
from Nashville. Tenn.
Mrs. W. I). McKinney will re
turn next week from Monroe, N. C.
Mrs. T. M. Foster spent the past
week-end at Stone Mountain.
Mr. Joe House has begun the
erection of his beautiful brick res
idence on Stephens street.
Mrs. W. B. McCants and Miss
Nolle McCants spent Tuesday in

Mrs. Henry Pledger, of Social
Circle, is visiting her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. J. H. Jackson.
Messrs. Henry and Perry Hill
spent Sunday in Gainesville with

Mr. W. O. Wooten is on a busi
ness trip to Talledega, Ala., this
week.
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Blakeley
and children will leave this week
for a stay at Blue Ridge.

to Gainesville to the Sanitarium
where he will undergo an opera
tion for appendicitis.
