the home of her mother, Mrs. G.

The regular monthly meeting
of the Missionary Society of the
Christian church met at 4 o'clock
with Mesdames Wood, Walden
and Miss Jennie Smith hostesses.
The Young Matrons Club was
entertained at Bridge at the home
of Mrs. Robt. Camp on Church St.
MRS. JOE ESTES HOSTESS
Mrs. Joe Estes was hostess at the
first meeting of the Brides club on
Tuesday morning at the home of
her mother, Mrs. G. W. Woodruff.
After a pleasant hour spent in sew
ing a delicious salad course was
served.
This club, although practically
new. has world’s of promise for
the future as all the members are
thoroughly interested and enthus
ed over the bringing together of
such a congenial group.
The Brides Club .consists of the
young married contingent who
were formerly members of the
Young Ladies Club and several
others.

On Tuesday afternoon at lier
home on Center street, Mrs. Jones
nave a lovely party to lier young
est daughter, Miss Cecil Jones, cel
ebrating her lourteentli birllidaj.
'Die living room and dining-room
were beautifully decorated in pink
and white eosnias. Ihe dining ta
ble was adorned with a Freneli
wicker basket of |>ink and white
eosnias. Rook was played during
the afternoon in the living room
where the lahles were placed and
on each were comports of pink and
white divinity candy. At ihe con
clusion of the games sandwiches
and tea were served. Mrs. Jones
was assisted in receiving by her
three attractive daughters. Misses
(leneva, Doris and Cecil, and Mrs.
'J’. M. Foster. Those enjoying this
happy occasion were Misses Nettie

One of the most delightful occa
sions for some time was the 500
party on Wednesday given by Mrs.
Mae Potts at her home on Steph
ens street to the Young Matrons
Federated Club and a number of
other friends. The living room
and music room were made unus
ually attractive with vases of sal
via and red cosmas. Comports of
salted almonds were placed on ihe
tables where the games were play
er! As the guests arrived the lios
tes. assisted by Mrs. W. O. Perry.

ley, served sandwiches and punch.
Music on the piano by Mrs. Potts
and Mrs. Bradley was an enjoya-

Last Sunday Mr. Ralph Smith,
captain for the White side an
nounced 789 points and Mr. Guy
Jackson, captain of the Reds, an
nounced bIS points. This is a very
close contest so far, and much in
terest is being manifested by all
the members.
Bet every member of the class
be present, next Sunday and a cor
dial invitation is extended toevery
man in the city who is not attend
ing any Sunday school.
Both captains had several new
members Sunday.
FIFTIETH BIRTHDAY.
Mr. S. F. Pirkle celebrated his
fiftieth year of young manhood on
Tuesday with a birthday dinner
and like all boys forgot himself
and nle too much.
The Times hopes this will be a
good lesson to him and that when
lie celebrates his hundredth birth
day dinner he will have reached
the years of maturity and have
learned to he a little prudent when
so many tempting dishes are at his
disposal.
Dr. and Mrs. E. F. Saxon had as
their guest for the week-end Atiss
Lucile Cook, of Athens.
Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Young had
as their dinner guests Wednesday

BIRTHDAY DINNER FOR
AMANDA WILLIAMS.
The children of Mrs. Amanda
’Williams gave her a birthday din
ner last Tuesday at the old home
stead near Winder, the present
home of her soil, W. A. Williams.
Mrs. Williams is tin* widow of the
late Judge A. M. Williams, our
former tax collector, and this oc
casion marke.l the 71st year of
this good woman.
She is the mother of 13 children,
10 of whom are living, lias 21
grand children and 4 great grand
children.
All of her children and grand
children were present Tuesday
anil a number of friends and rela
tives to enjoy the sumptuous din
ner and wish for her many more
birth day dinners of t became kind.

The Winder Chapter of the Roy
al Ambassadors of the hirst Bap
tist church met Tuesday afternoon
at four o’clock with Otis Willie
Smith.

Chief Sim Hill, of our city, was
one of the invited guests at flu*
birthday dinner of Mrs. Amanda
Williams last Tuesday and came
near being incapacitated for ser
vice that afternoon its Chief on ac
count of eatiug too much of the
good things. The ('hief had had
no appetite for a week and was be
ginning to think he was a little ill,
but found out it was because lie
bad not been to a real dinner until
Tuesday.
Uncle Ray Camp of C'ampton,
spent Tuesday in the city.
Mr. B. B. Jackson is oil the sick
list this week.
Mrs. C. K. Williams spent Mon
day and Tuesday in Atlanta.
