AN AGED CITIZEN
ANSWERS LAST CALL.
On Monday night at his home in
Jefferson, the soul of Mr. William
Thompson returned to the God
who gave it.
Mr. Thompson had been a suffer
er from asthma for many years,
and for almost two years had been
confined closely at his home. He
was taken critically ill only a few
days before his death, and the an
nouncement. of his passing away
was a great shock to his friends.
He was in his 78th year, and
was a member of a prominent pio
neer family of the county. In
young manhood he joined the
Methodist church, and during his
life was a consecrated Christian,
always living up to his concep
tion of a follower of the Lowly
Nazarene.
The funeral services were con
ducted in the home on Tuesday af
ternoon, by Reverends D. P>. Can
trell and M. 11. Massey, and the
body was interred in Woodbine
cemetery. He is survived by his
widow and two step grand chil
dren, Mr. Vernard Wright, of Mon
roe, and Mrs. Mamie Wright Esco
of Jefferson.—Last Week’s Jack
