THANKSGIVING SERVICE
AT FIRST BAPTIST
The members of the various con
gregations of the city gathered at
the First Baptist church Thursday
morning last.
Rev. W. If. Faust presided and
after appropriate scripture read
ing and prayer, all the citizens
present were asked to state in a
brief, concise way the things for
which they were grateful, and it
was a splendid service. Many of
the leading citizens, men and wom
en, responded and all who attend
ed pronounced it one of the best
services of the kind ever held in
Winder.
At the close an offering for char
ity was taken which netted $18.45
was turned over to Col. W. IL
the secretary of the
fund.

tist church the members of the
churches of Winder gathered and
extended a hearty and cordial wel
come to Rev. Wilkie Collins, the
new Methodist pastor.
Rev. W. 11. Faust presided. Rev.
John 11. Wood led in prayer. Claud
.Mayne spoke the words of welcome
for Disciples church. L. S. Radford
for Methodists; W. Ik Quarterman
for Presbyterians, and Rev. W. H.
must for Baptists.
Mr.s Collins and her preacher
husband received a warm and
hearty welcome from the vast au
lience that overflowed into the gal
lery of the church.
Mr. Collins preached an adinira
able sermon and expressed himself
as being delighted with the royal
reception he has met with in our
town.

of the week up here at his old
home from Putman county where
he located first of the year.
Henry says the boll weevil slorut
ed them- hut that they have made
fine crops of corn, forege, etc.
On one acre lie gathered % bush
