GAR PEPPERS, ATHENS ST.
TRLAY NIGHT.
Oscar Smallwood shot Frank
Drake five times last Saturday
night iu the store of Mr. Edgar
Peppers ou Athens street, result
ing the almost instant death oi
Drake.
It is rather a difficult matter to
get at the real facts of this trag
edy unil'tke trial takes place.
it is report ed-that these two men
met in tin barker shop, connected
with the store of Peppers, when
Drake came in and found Small
wood in a barber's chair being
shaved. That he jerked Small
wood out of the chair and some
words were passed between them.
Drake then wenl out and in a
few minutes returned when Small-
wood began shooting.
When the shooting started the
man Drake was drinking a bottle
of soda water and the first shot
entered his back between bis slioul
ders.
Smallwood fired four shots into
Drake’s body, when Drake w alked
out of the store and got his gun
and when lie returned Smallwood
shot the fifth shot into the corner
of the eye and Drake fell dead.
Dr. Almond, who examined the
wounds of the dead man in a short
while after it occurred, stated that
any one of the five wounds would
have produced death.
