THE SOUTH WILL COME
AGAIN
“Lu,)d of the South—beneath the
Heaven!
There’s not a fairer, lovlier dime;
Nor one to which was over given
A destiny more high, sublime.”
When conditions confront you
that cannot be helped, make 1 lie
best of them possible, and go to
work remedying them as fast as
you can so far as they at feet you
individually and collectively.
11 is too late to think about
-what you might have done in the
past to have prevented your dis
aster.
It is too late to moan and groan
and weaken your reserve force for
future effort.
Get a move on you, stop thinking
over the past and determine to
surmount your present difficulties
Things are never as had as they
seem unless we continue to brood
over them, despair of the future,
and lose hope.
It is hard to have all your earn
ings swept from you in a few
months and he forced to start life
over again, hut with the opportu
nities awaiting us, if we are
brave and courageous to face re
verses and weather the storms of
adversity, the South will come
again and our people he prosper
ous.
Hope for better (lays, work for
better days, pray for better days
and with an unwavering faith and
courage do your part in helping to
make better times, a greater South
*—a country favored above all
others for the accomplishment of
this desired etui.
The Harrow Timess believes in
the Smith, its people its resources,
its institutions, its traditions and
its wonderful possibilities.

ADVERTISING ESSENTIAL TO
SUCCESS.
When the merchants begin ad
vertising things will get better.
There is nothing which stimulates
besiuess more than advertising
and letting the public know you
are still at the same old stand and
a live wire when it comes to pleas
ing customers.
The people quickly forget a man
or firm that fails to advertise and
keep before the public.
No business these days will pros
per only by continued advertising.
The harder the times the more
advertising is required and the
more essential it becomes.

A FORWARD MOVEMENT FOR
GOOD
The formation of a Men’s club,
of the Methodist church of this
city last week, was a forward
movement which will result in
much good to the men composing
it, as well as to the church and
city.
One of the evils which has mili
tated disastrously against the
growth and influence of all chur
ches hs been the lack of interest
by the men of the churches and
their need of more spiritual force
and stamina.
They have given too much of
their lives, their thoughts and ac
tivities to business affairs and to
worldly pleasures rather than to
their spiritual duties and obliga
tions.
They have not been models, as
professed Christians, and examples
for outsiders to emulate and fol
low.
If the men of the churches would
carry into practice what religion
really means and stands for, actu
ated by the purest and highest
motives not letting the spirit to
outdo someone else enter their
hearts, but only a sincere desire of
service for the betterment of hu
manity and the advancement of
the Lord's Kingdom on earth
there would he a wonderful rear
lion for pure and undefiled rtdi
gion in this old world in a few
years.
The Times hopes this may he the
promptings of the Methodist
Men’s club of Winder and that it
may accomplish great and lasting
good for the city and surronding
section.
o
It is a useless and thankless un
dertaking advising fanners to re
duce the acreage in cotton this
year.
livery farmer will he governed
hy what lie thinks best for him.
Some will reduce while-others will
increase. Hundreds will reduce
acreage because they are fond to
do so and not for any otlir reason.
The farmer knows his condition
better than any one else, and while
it seems the part of wisdom to
plant less cotton and grow other
Crops, he will adopt his own plans
just like all other professions and
is not seeking free advice.
O
The old man, who, on Monday
morning aroused all of his family
early, telling them this is Monday,
tomorrow is Tuesday, next day is
Wednesday, the week is half gone
and nothing done yet, was learn
ing them the important lesson of
getting down to business right
now and not waiting and dream
ing until it was too late. Most of
ns put off, procrastinate and keep
on at it until we wake np just be
fore Christmas and find out we
have slept away our oppurtunities.
Most of us have about reached
the conclusion that we started
wrong during the period of pros
perity and easy money-making.
We overlooked the fact that we
cannot end right unless we start
light and most of us are forced
to admit we have ended with the
I odds against us by not stalling
right.
o
February, which is generally a
gloomy month of rain, sleet and
bad weather of all kinds, lias made
its debut. It is a month, bow
over, with its pleasant memories,
reminding us of Valentine day,
and also the birth of Presidents
Lincoln and Washington, two of
our country’s great men and lead
ers.
O
The man w ho gets his living and
his happiness out of his business,
and at the same time does unto
others as lie would wish them do
unto him, is indeed a fortenate
man and is pretty certain to walk
on the golden streets of the New
Jerusalem when lie departs from
this world.
The errors of judgement and
the lack of common sense in our
everyday affairs bring on most of
our misfortunes and worries and
few of us know how to deliver our
selves after getting into trouble.
