A remarkable story is told of a farmer who lives- near Ilfracombe, who travelled t.o Hxeter to see "The White Witch’’ respecting the death of three horses. The animals died in a mysterious manner, in the first place sitting on their haunches, and then lying on their sides. Two veterinary •surgeons were unable to say what was the nature of the disease, and, after the death of Che third horse, the farm er made the journey to Exeter. The woman known as “The White Witch” visited the farm, and told the man that he had undoubtedly been “witch ed.” The farmer firmly believes that such was the case. In answer to in terrogations by a press man as to whether he really believed in the superstition, he replied definitely that he was sure that it was right, adding. “And it was a good job I went, or else I should have lost everything. I lost all my horses, and it was awful.” —St. James’s Gazette. Faked Coronation Scene. Probably the most notable faked living picture ever produced was that which purported to give a representa tion of the actual scene inside West minster Abbey at the King’s Corona tion. The production was the work of an Inventive Frenchman, who had spe cial scenery -of the abbey painted and reproductions of the historical cos tumes made. Then a number of French actors were “made up” to rep resent the King, the aged Primate and other central figures—and remarkably lifelike they were. The mock coronation ceremony took place at a quiet little villajge in Brit tany, and the films were sent to Lon don for reproduction in one of the leading houses of entertainment. The managers, however, made no attempt to impose on the public and openly confessed that the scene was a “fake.” •—London Chronicle.
