Personal and Cocal A Little [Gossip About the Doings of Folks You Know and Don’t Know Mr. J. W. McClure has the grip. Homer Carmichael spent the week-end in Athens. Mrs. F. L. Walthall is on the sick list with the grip. Mrs. McCallum will return to Atlanta at an early date. Little Bert Kinard was quite sick Saturday and Sunday. Mrs. Butler went to Atlanta Saturday to see Dr. Mcßae. Mrs. Goodall left Monday for an extended visit to Cuthbert. * Mr. S. K. Smith was among Tuesday’s visitors to Jackson. Mrs. Luttie Smith has been ’ suffering recently from asthma. W. B. Webb is spending a few days with relatives in Griffin. Mr. and Mrs. Weems are con templating moving back to At lanta. Thornton Buchanan spent Sat urday night and Sunday with his parents. Otis Ham, Henry Byron and Mr. Frost returned Sunday night to Mercer. Quite a number of visitors are expected to attend the masquer ade party. Rev. Van Deventer, the new baptist pastor, arrived in Jackson Wednesday. Dave Goodson of Atlanta visit ed relatives in Jackson the first of the week. Jenkinsburg was represented in Jackson Tuesday by Mrs. J. F. Whitaker. Tom Bond is boarding with the family of Mr. I. H. Maddox on East Third street. Miss Bessie Thaxton will spend Saturday with her parents on West Third street. Charlie Kimbell went to West Lake Tuesday to be gone several days on business. Miss Bessie Thaxton wiil spend Saturday with her parents on West Third street. Miss Minnie Carmichael is at home, after a weeks stay with friends in Atlanta. Mrs. Nora King is off on a ten days’ visit to her sister, Mrs. Towmley, of Atlanta. Mrs. Joe Pullin, of near Grif fin, visited her sister, Mrs. Jim Ball on last Saturday. Miss Lucy Goodman has been confined to her room with a se vere attack of the grip. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Merideth of Jenkinsburg, spent Sunday j with relatives in Jackson. D. W. Brooks and brother, on route No. 7, were trading in our town the first of the week. Mrs. Keaton and Miss Jennie Bryans were up from Indian Spring Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Walker, the mother of Mrs. Joyner, is slowly improving at her home in College Park. J. W. Minter of Macon, spent Saturday with his sister, Mrs. Lacy Maddox on Lyons street. J. A. Maddox, one of Flovilla’s very popular young men, was in Jackson shortly with friends. ? Mr. M. Plymale and daughter, Mrs. J. E. Duffey of Flovilla, were in Jackson Tuesday trading. Mr. J. C. Adams is suffering from rheumatism and a severe cold. Mrs. George Gilmore visited her mother, Mrs. Ogden of Flo villa, the past week. Little Richard Sasnetthas been real sick for the past week from a bilious attack Mrs. Mollie Heflin is expected home from Sparta, the latter part of this week. Gunn and children, came home Sunday night from a visit to Mrs. Gunn’s mother of Sparta. Mrs. W. J. Wood’s friends are glad to learn, that she is rapidly convalescing from a ten days illness. Mrs. W. B. Carswell, returned Friday from a two months visit to her son, Mr. Clay Carswell of Macon. , Mrs. T. P. Atkinson, of Jenk insburg, spent Monday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Crawford. Newton of Anson Texas, has been critically ill with pneumonia. Mrs. Hodges and daughter, Mrs. R. N. Etheridge were in Flovilla recently visiting Mrs. Fleeta White Alexander. Vernon Smith left last Friday for East Point Ga., where he has accepted the position as trimmer in the Blurri-Carriage Factory. After a .visit to relatives in Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. John Paul have returned to their home in Macon. Mr. Ernest has moved his fami ly to Jackson. They now occupy one of Dr. Ellis’s houses on South Oak street. , \ Judge T. S. Hammond, of El gin, was in town Tuesday in interest of the county school board of education. Rev. W. E. Arnold of Atlanta, was the guest several days re cently of his cousin, Mrs. F. M. Allen on College street. Mrs. A. F. McMahon, who has been confined to her room for a week with an abscessed tooth, is slightly improved. Miss Lilia Watkins entertained on last Sunday, Misses Bessie Barnes, Annie Carter and Ethel Thornton of Jackson. Miss Martha Maddox of High Fall, is the attractive guest this week of Miss Alice Maddox and Mrs. Plato Watkins. Mr. and Elmo Jinks, who have recently moved here from Mcßae, have rented rooms from Mrs. W. J.
