PERSONAL AND LOCAL A little gossip about the doings of folks you know and don’t know j. H. Ham has an attack of the grip. Mr. Will Webb is in Jackson this week. Z. M. Leverette was in Jack son Monday. Little Judson Harmon has been real sick this week. Mr. A. M. Pace of Cedar Rock, was in town Monday. Mrs. J. M. Crawford has been quite sick with the grip. Dr and Mrs. W. J. Smith an nounce the birth of a son. Col. F. Z. Curry left Sunday nighufor Washington, D. C. B. A. DeLoach of Jonesboro, made a business trip here Mon day. Mrs. Fannie Beauchamp went to Atlanta Saturday for treat ment. Dr. A. M. Jamerson is in Jack son this week with friends and relatives. Mrs. E. L. Lawson and daugh ter were in Jackson Monday shopping. Mr. and Mrs. Mack Goodwin were in Locust Grove Sunday with relatives. Mrs. Hodges has returned to Jackson, after a three week’s stay in Macon. Mrs. Annie Webb was quite sick the first of the week, but is now improving. Mrs. J. F. Carmichael and Mrs. D. J. Thaxton, spent Thursday in Coody’s district. The friends of Mrs. Susan Moore are sorry to hear of her continned illness. Mies Estelle Thornton spent Saturday night and Sunday with Miss Eloise Jones. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Elder were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. I. J- Slaughter recently. S. P. Nichols left Tuesday on a business trip to Social Circle, Conyers and Monroe. Mrs. Lizzie Hall of Eatonton, is spending this week with her sister, Mrs. Hodges. Miss Ethel Logue has a fine school at Oak Grove. She now enrolls fifty-eight pupils. Mr. Will Gunn came down from Atlanta Sunday to see his brother, Mr. C. B. Gunn. Mr. W. A. Callaway, of Atlan ta, a veteran knight of the grip, spent Monday in the city. Miss Nina Garr spent Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. D. Garr of High Falls. Mr. and Mrs. Hamlin Thomp son of Flovilla, were with Mrs. J. L. Watson last Sunday. Subscribe for The Progress. Jane and E. T. Peek, of Lo cust Grove, were Ned McCord’s guest Saturday and Sunday. Mrs. R. L. Smith and children, returned Wednesday night from a pleasant visit to Shellman. Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Roberts, of near Covington, spent last week in Jackson visiting relatives. Mrs. Russell Meredith is spend ing a few days with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Gilmore. Miss Adelle Nutt is at home after a lengthy visit to her sister, Mrs. Hall Turner, of Winder. Col. E. M. Smith, of McDon ough, was with relatives in Jackson on Sunday afternoon. Misses Ethel Thornton and Bessie Barnes attended services at Mt. Vernon church Sunday. Miss Ada Sams entertained on Monday evening at “trail,” com plimentary to Miss Fitzpatrick. Mr. and Mrs. Lib Jamersonand pretty little daughter, visited Mr. and Mrs. P. R. Watkins Sunday. The continued sickness of Mrs. Sarah Etheridge is a source of regret among her many friends. Mr. George Lanier paid Jack son a flying visit Sunday, return ing to West Point Monday morn ing. Miss Kate Purifoy arrived in Jackson Wednesday, and is being entertained by Mrs. E. C. Robi son. Nichols, of Macon, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. S. P. Nichols on College street. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Guthrie spent Sunday in Juliette as the guests of Dr. and Mrs. W. J. Smith. Garden seed, flower seed in abundance at Hanna Drug Cos. Mr. J. J. Mapp and Mr. W. J. Garr, two of Monroe county’s prominent men, were in Jackson Monday. Mrs. S. 0. Ham entertained Rev. Van Deventer, Mr. and Mrs. McMahon at tea on Tuesday evening. Rev. S. P. Wiggins has return ed srom a ten days visit toDavis boro, where he assisted in a meeting. Miss Annie Kate Wright, a bright student of Bessie Tift Col lege, spent a few days of this week with homefolk. Mrs. W. P. Collier and chil dren, had an enjoyable visit to Mr. and Mrs. A. W. J. Wright near Elgin, last Sunday, Mrs. Alford Smithwick of At lanta, spent a few days the first of the week with her mother, Mrs. Estelle Carmichael. Mrs. B. F. Moon is again in the millinery department of the Carmichael-Etheridge-Smith Cos., after a rest of a few week. Miss Eloise Jones entertained eight couples on Saturday night, complimary to Miss Bernice Byars and Mr. Jackson of Juliette. Little Helen Smith is the hap py possessor of a pretty little registered Shetland pony which came last week from Burlington, N. C. The friends of Capt. E. J. Williams will be interested to learn that he has been ordered to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, Aug ust Ist. Paul Crawley will bring you the Atlanta Georgian six days in the week for ten cents. Sasnett Crum and Miss Eloise Pound had a delightful day Sun day in Henry county, as the guest of Mrs. S. G. Collins and Miss Florence Morrison. The Literary Society held a most interesting meeting last week with Mrs. James Warthen. Miss Maude Edwards will enter tain them at the next meeting. The Butts county friends of Dr. John R. Shannon, of Caba rtiss, wno has been in ill health for several months, will be glad to learn of his improved condi tion. Mr. F. S. Etheridge has been confined to his home for several days with an acute attack of the grip. His friends wish for him a speedy recovery and return to business. Quite a crowd from Jackson atttended the singing at Mace donia on Sunday afternoon. Those who went were, Misses Bessie Thaxton, Alice Maddox, Estelle Thornton, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Wilson. Indian Spring was well repre sented in Jackson last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. W. A.
